Noldorin Icon Family~
Nerdanel, wife of Feanor. Mother of seven sons - must have been a real powerful woman to raise seven boys (or maybe Nelyo took over for the most part lol).
So, Nelyo inherited her red hair... her's is a little more orange-ish compared to his. Oh... and they both have same epesse: Russandol. I wonder how Nelyo felt about having a same nickname as his mother

A fun fact: Nerdanel has ridiciously little page-time in any of Tolkien's books, and yet she dominates the fanfiction. There even was a chart showing how there is more fanfiction involving her than even LΓΊthien.
And what's with everyone dressing her in green? I love her in green, but it's kind of fun how everyone automatically picture her in it. Perhaps green = down-to-earth, sensible person?

Lol, the woman who made the chart is, as Moryo said, Dawn Felagund. She's a very active part of the Silm fanfic community - she founded the website The Silmarillion Writers' Guild which was the first website devoted to just Silmarillion fanfic. I doubt she hates Luthien, though she does seem to like Feanorians better.
Anyways, I don't think she hates Luthien, but here are posts she wrote about her: [link] and [link] . If you ever need to blow time, The Heretic Loremaster is always a good read...I might not agree with everything she says, but it's a nice place and well backed up ponderings anyways.

I checked it, and the person behind demonstarting Nerdanel's fame is Dawn Felagund, and I believe she submits fanart here in dA. It's good, too. I doubt she has anything against LΓΊthien: she just listed the notable Silmarillion women and how much fanfiction is written about them, and Nerdanel topped that list.

The FΓ«anorian factor most certainly comes into play, too. If you check ff.net's Silmarillion fancfiction entries, most of them involve FΓ«anorians. We rule!
