This is an image of Yavanna, one of Tolkien’s Valar. I have portrayed her under Telperion and Silpion during the “gentle hour” when the light from both trees mingle in soft dappled silver, green and gold. As she is continually followed by birds, I have clothed her in feathers. In her hair are scattered gems, gifts from her husband Aule.

Iiinteresting. I came here because of your Angelo portrait, but I was impressed by your gallery.
In most of the Yavanna portraits I've seen, the artist depicts her with straight long hair. And while I know you're working from a stock image, the juxtaposition between tight curls (soft yet natural) and bejeweled refinement captures an aspect of Yavanna quite well.

Oh my, this is definitely one of your best works so far^^ I've always liked Yavanna, the character reminds me a bit of couple of ancient pagan gods here in Finland, and couple of viking gods, too. Y'know, I have only one thing to whine about; I would have made her hair longer

The dress took absolutely ages but I think it was worth it - even chasing the damn peacock round and round a crowded picnic area with a camera was worth it
