she screamed, howled with a pain and a sorrowful fury that echoedย through the water and throughout the whole of the ocean.
It was more than just a cry of pain, more than just the arrow through her well toned feminine torso.
It was a heart, a heart broken and torn asunder by the tremendous weight of a love unrequited, and deeply sacrificialย love that was out right rejected. A love that scorned, a love that was met with scorn.
A love that sent that terrible bolt, that cold piece of unforgiving, unrelenting piece of steel though her ever giving, radiantly innocent flesh...ย

It also would be the pose of a girl going through an excruciatingly painful transformation from human to mermaid...at least, that's how I see it.

Totally, when I think about mermaids I imagine them as cursed human beings, so to me they are kind of melancholic creatures.

That's one way to think of them. I think the stories surrounding mermaids and what they are like carry infinite potential, so there's no written-in-stone way to portray them.

Perhaps, it could be used as part of a narrative where a mermaid is killed by a hunter either within the beginning or middle of it.
