Description Acrylic on wood panel, 27x13 1/2 inches. A new piece.

A lesson learned. Never assume that what appears to be a raw untreated piece of wood is in actuality a raw untreated piece of wood. After priming and pretty much finishing the center girl I came back the next day to find that the area of her face (and about a quarter of the background had turned a dark mottled grey. Instead of breaking it and burning the pieces (which I would have done not so many years ago) I methodically scraped, cleaned, re-primed the area - and re-painted the face. Be that as it may, she's truly a ghost of her former self. An apt outcome considering the theme of the piece.

Thanks for looking

I wonder what they are doing and where they are, that's why your paintings are great. It makes me ask questions.

Danny,

Don't talk to me about a piece of wood. It's never worthless--unless it is ruined in some way. What you have done here proves my point.

I like these girls in the middle ground, and the pipe in the foreground. And ignoring the background, which is beautiful in color contrast and color harmony, and as usual my not being able to figure your mind on it, I guess I have to say I love the painting as a whole. How's that for a contradiction?

Another crazy first-rate work.

Thanks Robert. A wood surface can be quite unforgiving at times

Its most haunting elements, for me, are these little tufts of fire; a painting to be viewed with equal parts pleasure and awe...

Is painting on wood your preference lately, Danny?

Not really (and especially after this one). To have gotten a canvas stretched to these dimensions would have taken a couple of weeks, and I didn't really feel like waiting...

Just thinking of the days when I had to wait (at least) a week to get my photos back from Clark Photo Labs makes me wonder at my then patience. NOW I start ranting when that damned Kodak software takes too long to load
