Like I said in my last stamp, I'm not entirely anti-OCxCanon - when it's done right. (not butchering the canon character's personality, not making the OC a mary sue, not murdering the hypotenuse, etc.)And I'm not against general OCxCanon groups, like or , because those are for everybody's OCxCanon pairings.
But when you make a group about only your precious little OC in love with your most favoritest bishie, that's just being silly and attention-whorish, imo.
Because, although I hate to generalize, most OCxCanon pairings are just self-insert, fap material for the OC's creator.

I totally see what you mean here. With my OC x Canon groups, I also like to create folders for others who like the canon character (whom my OC might be paired up with) shipped with another canon character or their OC.Β

I know about two FAN artists and I call them FAN artists, because that's what they are, artists that draw fan-made characters. These two (I'll keep them anonymous) made fanclub/groups dedicated to their hackneyed fan characters and their fan pairings. While you do make a point against canonxoc groups, I feel like if their fan characters are so great, then they should earn it by a fan or a friend. But in most cases, it just makes them look pretentious and seem like their lives revolve around their fan characters and their fan pairing. People who are so attached to their fan characters on this level of ludicrousness, tend to have a common thread of being total judgemental, unapologetic, egomaniacal jerks to everyone who don't adore them like they're god's gift to them. And that they take any act against them by others, be it an option or critique, as a personal attack on the artist themselves and those who oppose them are automatically labeled as haters by their standards. It's ridiculous.

tobehonest one of the things i hate most about OC x canon is the fact that there's creators who dont put effort into their OCs and genuinely lean on the canon character + the ship with them to choke out some weak form of personality

At first I was cool with it, then I realized that by doing so they were isolating the canon character and trying to dictate how that character should be instead of letting the character be independent and be just what the creator intended. )
