A German Shepherd jumping a hurdle.

This was part of the Dutch Championships for German Shepherds that are trained in IPO. I think IPO is about the same as the American K9 training, a training used to educate police dogs.

Part of the training is fetching wooden blocks that are thrown over the fence and over a hurdle. The dogs have to sit next to their handler and only go get when he says they can. They must jump the fence when getting the block and jump the fence when bringing it back to the handler.

These dogs are trained to an extent thats almost incomprehensible for me! This is a bridge too far for me and Nikos!
