Hello I figured I'd try out mylittlegami 's contest and here is my general information sheet

(All totally optional character cannon here, you can totally scrap it, I just wanted to add my personal touch rather than leave just a boring reference)

Name: Mellow Beats ~Lune Lumière~

Age: 19
Race: Bat Pon, Pegasus Pon

Parents: Bat Pony Mare, Pegasus Stallion

Current Residence: Canterlot

MB is quite a stand out when you take a second look at him. Usually, bat ponies don't come to Equestria often and stay out of the country due to a war and a certain complicated past involving NightMare Moon, but occasionally if an Equestriian is lucky enough, then they can find a bat pony that has settled in with their other, softer, fluffier counterparts in Equestria. Mellow Beats is one of those special cases, and he's is pretty special because he's a half-blood, a mixture between that fluff and gruff. A Bat Pony, Pegasus mixture!

Personal History:

MB's mum is an immigrant from Belgian and is a pure blooded pat pony. She left her country and moved to Manehatten from a rough home life, chasing a dream that she didn't quite know yet, but eventually found love with a Pegasus stallion working at the local theater. Eventually they settled down together in a cramped, kinda dingy, city apartment. While it wasn't the "Equestrian Dream" that she had imagined, she was happy.

The couple had four kids (2 on accident haha whoops...), and MB is the eldest of the three.
While the family isn't dirt poor by any means, they aren't unfamiliar with getting their hooves dirty and having to cut things out of their lifestyle. Living in Manehatten with three kids isn't easy, especially when you don't live in a penthouse and have mediocre paying jobs. But the parents are trying their best to save up their money for their foals in hopes of giving them better lives. And while they really really do care for their children, sometimes the kids just had to handle stuff that they shouldn't have and were left alone long enough to cause some emotional disconnection between them and the children.

Mellow Beat's Past:

I believe that MB was hit hardest by his parents' absence in his life. MB as a foal was already pretty introverted and would rather build his lego sets than play with the foals across the street. In the beginning MB's mum encouraged (ie forced) him to join some activities. After several failed attempts at getting him to enjoy something, she hit success with the free trail piano lesson she found on the newspaper. Mb was hooked. He took piano lessons until he was 13 and money got tighter after his siblings were born and they had to move to a different part of the city. Eventually they had to sell his piano to make room for his siblings and to buy the essentials. But he was able to keep his keyboard which fit in his closet. He would spend hours in his room just tying together rhythms until he found something he liked. He recorded several songs that he made on some records, but he'd never share them with anyone today. He'd be too embarassed from his cringy art past.

It wasn't until he was 16 that he got his start as a DJ. It was one afternoon when he was walking home from school when he noticed a flyer stuck to a pole that read "Djs wanted for LAV nightclub", well, he had been getting pretty good... the only issue was that you needed to be 18 or older, so one fake id for a gentlestallion named Mellow Beats later and an interview, he got the job and began to work at that nightclub for thursdays and tuesdays from 10pm to 3am. He picked up some other gigs at other places every once and awhile and kinda bounced around depending on where he was needed, but always stayed at LAV. This is why he has those eyebags. He would come home from school, work on his homework, take a quick nap, and sneak out a night. He got so into his job that he asked his parents if he could drop out of high school, (thankfully) they refused. It took a long time for his parents to find out about his job and it wasn't until a whole year later that he gave himself away after buying a new keyboard and his mum caught him with it. She let him continue since he had just turned 18 at the time and was only a few months away from graduation.

His Personality:

Mellow is pretty... well... mellow! He appears to be a pretty easy going fellow and usually does group think. He doesn't mind pitching ideas here and there, but he prefers to be the backbone rather than the face in any kinda task. He tries to be kind and understanding to those that he meets and maybe make a bit of conversation, but he doesn't have the luck getting much further than that with many creatures. So he doesn't mind standing on the sidelines and watching.

But when he was younger it upset him a lot to see all of these creatures in his school able to open their mouths and talk like it was nothing and yet here he was, unable to scrap up the strength to say hello, but as he got older, made a close friend and loostened up a bit he was able to communicate more and built up his social confidence, but even today he totally is still an intro and doesn't mind silence and usually prefers to be alone. However, Mellow is still emotionally constipated and doesn't know how to talk about his feelings and puts his faith in the wrong individuals because of their outward appearance.

Canterlot/Band Life:

Mellow decided to move to Canterlot for a change of pace, while Manehatten was nice, he wanted something new (plus he's heard rumers of Canterlot's wicked partying underbelly). Currently he's got an apartment on the outskirts of the city and is working at underground nighclubs. So, when he walked past the castle and saw a flyer for a contest for THE BLUE BLOOD's son PEARLY WHITE's band that was looking for a DJ!!!!!, he snatched the flyer right up and took off to get ready for the audition.

-I feel that if he was to get accepted into the band, then he would definetly end up being manipulated by Pearly in one way or another. While he does keep his walls up, he is also kinda too trusting of others immediate kindness. He would see through P's crap eventually, but would probably get hurt in the process and accidentally turn his back on those who really care about him.

- As for the other memebers of the band, as long as they were nice to him and others, he'd get along with them and try to make friendships.

-I think MB would be the negotiator/peace keeper of the band. His level headed personality would keep others calm and coming to him for advice or someone to talk to. While he's not the best talker, he's a listener.

Extra Notes:

-Also, after the release of a wildly popular romance series involving forbidden love between a pegasus mare and a bat pony stallion (uhh twilight? heh), bat pony culture was thrusted into the light and now there's been a wave of interest in the area. So MB is hoping that that will help his chances a bit. Or, at least he's been noticing a lot of looks from others lately and even had a mare come straight up to him and tell him that he's good looking. "Oh wow, uhhh... thanks? heh..." *Blushing ensues*

- MB can speak fluent Prench and his real name is Lune Lumière (Moon Light). But after he began his DJ career, he changed his stage name and now goes by it in public. Only his family and friends know his real name. He doesn't hate his real name or anything, he just thinks that Mellow Beats fits his personality better.
