You might recall that Ruby/Sapphire Brendan was replaced with =Leptocyon 's character of the same name on Pg. 10. It was a pleasant experience but it led to some ideas being unused...
So this is pretty much what would have happened if Sara had met original Brendan! ... No, it's not. It's a parody that also contains one or two ideas from Lepto.
Anyways, en...joy? I'm a terrible chibi artist. Their lack of proper hands and feet is disturbing.
I don't like Brendan. If you ever played a Hoenn game as the female character you probably remember his quote: 'I didn't know that you're a girl. Dad, Prof. Birch, said that our new next-door neighbor is a Gym Leader's kid, so I assumed you'd be a guy.'
Absolutely, it's something that any bratty 10-year-old boy could say, but it's also something you shouldn't put into a video game you want to SELL TO GIRLS. I wanted to punch him in the face from day 1, but I couldn't even properly do that because that coward stops challenging you to battle even before his starter is fully evolved. Can you say worst rival ever?

Lack of hands and legs don't disturb me. Chibis are not supposed to have a detailed hands and feet anyway. They are supposed to be cute and fingers definitely not brings much cuteness. Most of the chibis I've ever encountered had three to four fingers on their hands
Also, I must agree that with your opinion about the line from the games. I don't seem to follow his logic :/
But I kind of like his design too much to hate him. And one of the best manga characters (Ruby from PKMN Adventure manga) is based on him (and keeps part of that personality that everything inside you tell you that you should hate that but you can't help yourself and he enchants you before you can resist

I think that panel where he leans his head on the side is the best one. He looks cute and delightfully stupid at the same time.

I'm slowing getting used to how they look on this page... It took almost as long as drawing normal arms and legs until I got them to look not super creepy.

I've never seen the mangas being sold here. That's a shame because they sound much better than the anime...
