:/ Do I need to rant here??I LOVE how idiotic this fanbase is about stupid shipping.
They just LOVE to try and shove their favorites down people's throats, with the basis that
"OMG!!! THEY WERE TOTALLY HINTED AT IN THE GAME SO THAT MEANS THEY OFFIICICIALL~!!"
NO you dummy.
Hints in games mean absolutely nothing.
You know why?
Because they are 'hints'!
Hints are ambiguous and purposefully multi-dimentional!
Anybody can take the same hint and get a different answer!
It is not based on facts only: it's based on your perception or your OPINION of the event.
And that is why it isn't accurate, nor valid!
You can't just go on OPINIONS for an argument.
If you ever tried writing an essay that only states your opinions but never gives support, you will FAIL.
DEBATES are never based only on the opinions! They are based on statistics and the fact of the matter.
You can appeal to pathos, ethos OR logos all you want: but if you can not give supporting details in the way of facts or examples, you can not win the argument.
So you can shut up about

That's just your mind making something our of what isn't.
If you really want to support your opinions, you need to base them on the facts.
In this case, the only FACTS are that while SEGA isn't making any couples official in CANON, they DO give you information in the background.
With Interviews, their character biographies, and their other uses of the characters.
Because SEGA's word is the only thing that can make something official.
Rumors don't even count.
If SEGA doesn't talk about it, it hasn't happened yet, adn your argument is invalid if you try to use "Oh! but it's been so long and they be hintin at __ now"

Until they actually VOTE to amend the Constitution,and make it OFFICIAL that this Amendment is to be made, the Constitution is the same, and it's contents are followed by the citizens.
It's the same principle.
Fanon is FINE of course: if you like something, you like it!
But don't try pulling things off as canon if they really aren't.

Canon doesn't always mean good , in fact there is times when actually canon is trash . Knuxouge is just overrated fanserivce that serves no purpose at all to both Knuckles and Rouge , what does have to do a free spirit jewel with obligated guardian on isolated island, not to forget that he is the last of his kind . If Rouge end up with Knuckles , means changing what really she is , giving up on her freedom to rise some abomination echidna/ bat children on isolated , which is something would out of her character . Even Knuckles and Rouge are not gonna end up with each other , in that case their relationship would futile , and I hate saying my favorite character Rouge in futile romance especially it's mostly one sided . Knuckles should be with a girl of his kind to save his species and revive the legacy , not with with thief who randomly came out of nowhere on his island , then having lame fight , then boom a lame pointless romance born . Beyond the SA2 Knuckles has nothing to do with Rouge , their interactions are just pointless and doesn't contribute anything to their characters , just pointless interactions , their relationship were pointless to begin with . At least when to Shadow and Omega there is something to do with Rouge and there is basic relationship .

I agree with this stamp. That applies to all fandoms, not just Sonic. Why do most people care about shipping as much as, if not more than the actual themes and messages of the works in question?

Sonamy and Knuxouge aren't necessarily canon. SEGA has yet to CONFIRM both couples are legit. Sonic still feels uncomfortable with Amy and we haven't heard of anything regarding Knuckles and Rouge lately.

This is true. But, nowadays, there are sooo many Sonic "couples" that nobody really knows wether they are canon or not, except maybe the yaoi and yuri couples.
Although, with all do respect, you've missed a spot; I know you hate Sally and all , hence your username, but SonicxSally can be considered canon, even if it doesn't appear in the games. Let me explain; the couple "Sonsal" appears in different medias: shows (SATAM and AOSTH (in one episode)) and the Archie comics. If SEGA didn't approve of Sonic and Sally as a couple, they obviously wouldn't be one. SEGA has its say on these medias, meaning if there is something that they don't approve, it can't happen. So, Sonic and Sally are, indirectly, a "canon" couple that is/was approved by SEGA.

Well: It's less that I think SEGA's word is law more than what is canon is canon whether anyone likes it or not. If they make something happen in a game's story: then that is what happened and you can't really try to change it or turn what happened to have another meaning only because it's the fact of what happened as relation to the story.
But of course if the facts actually over-rule what they say then they are wrong
In terms of their statement: if they are targeted to 8 year old boys, then that means that the creators intended them to be so.
They aren't saying that other people won't or can't play them: that's just the demographic they are trying to aim it at.
But basically the idea is: SEGA's words are similar to how an author of a book can make events happen and that is the fact of the story: AND they can control who the TARGET audience is for although they can't control who actually picks it up (Like they write the book FOR adults but teenagers read em also.)
So those are my thoughts.

That comment is half a decade old. 'SonAmy' is nothing more than a 'humoristic' sect, this entire Amy-has-a-crush-on-Sonic is meant as a joke of the mentality ''ohhh no I don't waaant you'' if you get that. And SonAmy is cannon in Sonic X only.

True. However, I knew that. Sonic will never get into a romantic relation with anyone in the games. That is a solid fact, and has been confirmed. So it isn't JUST Amy. All of Sonic's made-or-to-be girlfriends are:
* NOT CANNON. (Sally, Mina, Bunnie, Breezie, the female rat in ASOTH, Elise later being NON-cannon and her game being erased. etc.)
* ERASED. (Sonic 06 and Elise x Sonic's relationship.)
* SCRAPPED. (Madonna (CLASSIC ERA.) and Tiara. (SONIC EXTREME.))
Amy/Emi is the only 'girlfriend' prototype that remained (SEGA president originally said she was going to be a replacement-of-a girlfriend after Madonna was scrapped.) . They didn't scrap her, but scraped the idea of Sonic and Amy cannonly being lovers. Later replacing it with: 'Fangirl chases/followed protagonist/Loyal 'love interest' after protagonist (who doesn't give two blue quills about romance or her in a romantic way.)'
SonAmy in the games arc was only to be teasers, and a cat and mouse chase. Sonic doesn't like her the way she likes him. If he did, that's just the fans' interpretation. Its actually a 50 50 percentage mark he might have feelings, and he might not (IN A FANS' OPINION. SEGA never cleared it up. They just debunked nip of each side.) Though, in a cannonly accurate view, they are just friends. Nothing more, nothing less. Sonic hates romance and being tied down. Amy loves romance but hates being tied down as well. Its an evident personality clash and repel.
SonAmy is cannon in Sonic X, Sonic Boom, and Sonic manga. SonAmy is actually teased and supported by Ian, a comic writer, too.
