Description How I did the fur in [link]

Note: I'm working in SAI

1.) Base is a dark shade of the fur color that is used.

2.) Made fur-like brush strokes with a med-large sized brush with my fur color. The length of the brush strokes depends on where on the body you're at. Small, short strokes for shorter fur, and larger/longer stokes for longer fur. Study your animal's fur pattern to determine how it's layed out.

3.) With a smaller brush, I did wispy outlines on the ends of each of the larger brush strokes to make it look like actual fur.

4.) Added wispy highlights and shading wherever necessary, depending on where my light source is.

That's about it

I just realized it's a Tribble....

Can I do it with a mouse or just with a tablet?

CatsGoWild In reply to Amatheos [2018-03-04 18:55:50 +0000 UTC]

well, using a mouse is very difficult and isn't very reliable. Yes, you can thats up to you but using a tablet is just way better and easier.

Well, you don't need any fancy tablets or anything. You can probably find some cheap drawing pads and pens on Wish maybe

i-Mel In reply to Okoe [2013-04-20 23:03:33 +0000 UTC]

Try using grey colors for the steps, then making an overlay layer. On the new layer, draw in the colors needed for the markings and colors.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Petalsaurus In reply to silvershadowhdgehog [2012-07-01 01:43:57 +0000 UTC]

I think what you want to do is start with a gray for the base, (like in #1) and start going lighter,or white gradually with the details and strokes. (:
