Thanks! I'm glad you like this one. I was really proud of it when I drew it over a year ago. It got some love and all, but I was surprised, because the Natalie Portman one got so much more. I like this one so much better, but I guess Natalie is more popular as an actor. I guess that's how it goes sometimes on dA. *shrug*

Oh my gosh! What a fantastic compliment coming from you. In fact, I was just thinking about the painting on your avatar, and how much I love it and wish I could create something like it (completely unique, great style, great emotion, etc.) I agree with what you said in your other comment to me though - about how you feel about realistic work and not being able to put your own spin on it. I've been feeling the same way - and getting bored with realism but frightened a bit of non-realism... lol...
Anyway, thanks a bunch, and I can guarantee I'll be thinking of your art as I try to pave my own way to more creative freedom!

Oh, I love that painting too. In fact, it is the first painting I have kept for myself since I started painting.
I know you are going to work into amazing abstracts. Knowing realism is the only way you can abstract correctly so you are well on your way!

Yes, I use the Q-tips for blending of smaller areas and shadows on the skin. I use a cotton ball to blend the larger, lighter areas on the skin.
