For Day 18 of KHanuary, we bring in members no.4 & no.6 of Organization XIII, Vexen & Zexion. Vexen & Zexion were also among the 6 members sent to Castle Oblivion in Chain of Memories.

“If you continue to seek the girl Namine, the shackles will tighten… You’ll lose your heart and become Marluxia’s pawn!”- Vexen

“Your work has been improving by leaps and bounds. I hope you continue to apply yourself.” -Zexion

In Castle Oblivion, Vexen, Zexion and another member we’ll see later, were placed in charge of the castle’s basement levels, while Axel, Marluxia & Larxene were placed in charge of the main floors. During their time there, Vexen created a Replica of Riku, which they filled with the same false memories of Naminé they were feeding into Sora. Eventually, Vexen met his end at the hands of Axel after a confrontation with Sora. Meanwhile, Zexion met his end of the Riku Replica after a failed attempt to bring Riku in to the Organization’s fold in a similar role Marluxia was planning for Sora.

Vexen is responsible for the creation of Xion, as part of the Replica Program. It is also revealed in the prequel game ‘Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep’(henceforth BbS), that both Vexen & Zexion were apprentices of Ansem when they were human, as Even and Ienzo respectively.

Both are now human again after the defeat of the original Organization, and it looks like Ienzo will be acting as an aide to Sora in KH3. As for Even/Vexen, things are unknown at this time.
