I'm curious as to what environment the mech the pilot operates in. The suit doesn't really has little connecting it to flight suits, or even a tank operator, but more of a space age wet suit. I do think that what looks like the armored portions of the suit suggests padding for the pilot during high speed maneuvers, so I'm seriously suspicious that this guy operates a space flight capable mech of some sort.
It would explain the lack of straps to his suit, and possibly suggest that it's designed to be self heating in the event of a space flight ejection situation. Anyway, I'm very curious as to the end concept you're cooking up with this one.

Simply brilliant.
To me, it looks like those last few minutes of trying to mentally prepare yourself for combat just before you climb into the cockpit. The simplicity of the background and the bench reflects how focused his mind is.
