The gypsy girl or rather Romany is something I've always wanted to tribute a drawing to ever since I went backpackin with my girl in Europe, there we seen allot of them and I felt a connection with them we learned that a true Romany is a free spirit... but they don't come cheap... watch your wallet.Like so many of the Romany I saw I wanted to make her expression tragic and make her hair and clothing dirty and tattered to show that true freedom comes with a coast...

no, the romani are a nomadic people- thought to be originated in the baltics. It's a widely known misconception that they are from romania. xxx

Heh, how odd... I've always had a fascination with the Romani as well...
but you actually got to meet some of them... how was it? There's nothing that can compare to actually meeting with someone.

Ya... I'm not really sure why thereβs the fascination, I believe that its cuz thereβs wounding performers and little is really commonly known about them...
Unfortunately my encounters with them was quite typical at first in the fact that they where mainly trying to scam me out of my money and so naturally I hated them for it... a common occurrence with them but I later discovered that there is a big difference between a Gypsy and a true Romany... I was at a large musical festival when I was in Munich, Germany when I saw the Romany's performing, there was a family of them dressed in there traditional fashion dancing, signing and doing tricks and all they had was a small hat or guitar case for viewers to donate what ever they could spear and they brought allot of joy to the people... it made me feel that they where a miss understood. They are a people who walk to the beat of their own drums and they try to live there lifeβs to the fullest to a Romany every breath is a gift.

Yeah, I dunno... life seems so simple (yet not, as they are constantly shunned) for the Romani.

you've been too, how long where you there for? I was only passing through but I did stay in Berlin for about 5 days... sooo not enough time, the people where the nicest there then anywhere eils!

heh, I only stopped for a weeks... stayed in Hamburg while I was there. the locals kept telling me Hamburg wasn,t a nice city... to Hell with them. I loved it there.
