Ever rambunctious and endless bounds of energy, she's ready for Winter and has started her yearly routine of visiting the towns of Equestria. Doing so will bring a great snowfall a few days after her visit, which for most foals means a heck of a lot of excitement.
She loves nothing more than to start an all out snowball war with the local townsfolk, so beware!
Kyu also has a habit of tucking snowballs into her feathers and sniping unsuspecting ponies from above. She has an unlimited supply of them stored within the abyss of floofy feathers she calls wings.

Name Origins: KyuFlake: KyuFlake's name originated from the Pokemon, Kyurem. Since I had always loved winter, it seemed quite fitting. The Flake ending is the last half of the word "snow flake". None of the combo names that I came up with rolled easily off the tongue. KyuFlake came into being by accident and took off since it was easy to remember and no other pony owned such a name. It's unusual in its own way, and that is what differentiates her from other OC's. I originally wanted her to be SnowFlake, but that name was over-used so much in the OC world, I didn't even dare.

Mate/Relationship: None, single.

Family: The Flake lineage is a cursed lineage. Any filly born into the family inherits the curse. Any colts lose the curse after some time (explained in more detail below). Whispering Willow (Kyu's mother) and Snowy Granite (Kyu's father) still live together with Kyu, supporting her through the recent hardships until she marries.

Species: Pegasus Snowpony

Cutie Mark: KyuFlake earned her Cutie Mark when she first discovered that she could create snow and ice with her hooves. During her free time, she had created a small icicle feather when she was a filly, earning her Cutie Mark in the process. Her Cutie Mark is a single large white snowflake with eight branches. Off of each of these branches are two smaller branches: Snowflake aka KyuFlake cutiemark

Past: Born to an average family, Kyu was unaware of her family's history until she started showing strange side effects of an unknown disease at a relatively young age. With an average temperature way below the normal values of most ponies, many doctors thought it was anemia and early signs of snow-tick disease. Shrugging off the unusual temperatures, Kyu lead a fairly normal foalhood, chasing other foals, playing games, and overall being care-free. After two years of the unusual temperatures, Kyu started showing a new sign; ice was forming on the edges of her hooves. Her parents concerned, Whispering Willow, Kyu's mother, started studying their history, seeking any kind of clue of what might be causing their daughter's strange conditions. Coming across a ancient storybook in her great grandmother's inherits, Willow began to take up studying texts of the Ancient Frosts. Eventually, Willow finally found something relevant to Kyu's condition: a Curse. Eager to see a specialist on the Windigos, Whispering Willow and Kyu's father, Snowy Granite, journey to Canterlot to visit an elderly unicorn who specialized in such stories of the past. Bits in hoof, Willow asked everypony at the university of what may be causing Kyu's condition. The elder took Kyu in for four days, studying her and the effects of the so-called disease. Willow and Granite waited patiently, and soon had their suspicions confirmed. Kyu is a surviving member of the ancient Flake lineage, and did indeed have a Curse running in her blood. This curse, although present in both male and female members of the family, was made more prevalent in mares because the curse was originally directed at the first mare. Shaken and scared, Kyu and her family made it back to the lower mountainous village of Krystelletine. For five years, Kyu lived with her parents, scared of what may happen if she stepped out of their tiny village.
Now an adult, Kyu has taken to her own path, and now lives as a harbinger of winter, going from town to town warning ponies of the first snowfall; it almost always snows two or three days after KyuFlake's visit. With the soul of a Windigo, Kyu now uses her curse as a crutch instead of a death sentence. "It's better to live with it rather than deal with it." After deciding to accept her fate, Kyu added her ancestor's name, Flake, to her own. She now studies to learn more about her ancestors, and use her curse for good.

Background/Personality: KyuFlake is a Snowpony that hails from northern Equestria, Krystelletine. Not only is it very cold, it snows and hails almost every other day. When the weather does turn nice, she likes to fly above the large pines and play pranks on strangers by dumping snow on their heads from the heavily weighted-down branches. A few of her favorite hobbies are: Chilling with her best friends Sketchbook and FreeStyle, Wind Surfing, Snowball Fighting, Pulling Pranks, and Ice Sculpting. She is very stealthy, and often doesn't have a presence to other ponies. This makes taking/stealing/"borrowing" objects easy. As her own personal law, she gives everything she takes back to the owner, often teasing them of how unobservant they are. The other half of her talent is creating snow with her wings (a sort of magical feather dandruff). Each one of her snowflakes are unique, changing in shape and size each time her wings are used to create powerful gales. KyuFlake also sports a teal scarf that she uses on cold windy days and all throughout winter. At each end of the scarf, there are two golden bells that jingle in the wind. Kyu has a lot of confidence and can be a great leader, but her pride is her downfall. Whenever she gets nervous, Kyu often makes mistakes, fumbling into a blushing mess of stuttering. She is also quite arrogant and naive, often trying to prove to other's that her opinions are correct. This often leads to selfishness, but she makes up for it with her friendship and honesty; apologizing immediately after fights and arguments, not allowing them to drag on.

Flaws: Kyu is often selfish and a bit arrogant. Her prankster-like behavior can be seen as mean and often at times rude. One of her main traits is how she is dead-pan honest; she will sometimes say something so truthful that it hurts another's feelings without her noticing so. Another flaw about Kyu is how unbelievably skittish she is. At first glance, you would never have guessed she was afraid of waterweeds. When something isn't explainable, Kyu often becomes afraid and paranoid. Although most scary movies don't frighten her, Kyu has a weak composure when it is her herself in the position of "scaree" compared to the "scarer". Ironically, Kyu gets a hoot out of frightening others, while she herself can't stand it. A bit of a hypocrite. Jump-Scares are her nemesis.

History/Lineage: Kyu was born with her ancestor's curse of the Windigo. The tale has been lost over the years through her family lineage, so nopony really knows what happened. The fact remains that every filly born in the Flake's ancestry had taken on some sort of ancient Pegasus Magic at birth. The colts lose their magic after a few months of age and return to a more "normal" life.

Legend states that a mare had run away from her homeland in search for adventures and a new life. Since "crossbreeding" was considered a taboo back in the Ancient Days of Equestria, nopony ever looked upon each others' races for love. The Windigos did not like how the young Pegasus mare fell in love with an Earth Pony stallion. In their hatred, the Windigos cursed the two lovers, making sure that the Pegasus's and Earth Pony's ancestors would forever suffer their law. The young offspring were spared, leaving them to pass on the memory of the curse within their souls as beings of ice-type ancient Pegasi magic.

But over the course of history the legend had faded, along with the Windigo's curse. It is still frozen inside of Kyu's heart, waiting to be unraveled. It's only a short amount of time until the curse either breaks or her internal Windigo soul is set free to romp wild once again.

Well, I really loved the idea of them. Kyu was created BEFORE the Windigo debut actually showed nationally, meaning I had these ideas way ahead of Faust's Canon Windigos. Cool, huh?
Kyu was first supposed to be a depressed cold and unfriendly pony who wanted to be left alone. But over time, my personality leeched into her character, leaving what we all know and love as today's Kyu.
