Description
Another finished up concept from arvalis' unusual gryphons challenge! I love Hornbills and Civets, I'm grateful that these two animals have similar ranges so that I could comfortably merge them haha. Even if Civets are nocturnal and Hornbills are diurnal... oTL
The Malayan Gryphon is a large creature native to the Malay Peninsula, inhabiting thick forests and spending most of their time in and around trees. While primarily frugivorous, it's an opportunist and will prey on small reptiles, mammals, and birds when available. They can be seen in pairs and sometimes small groups, foraging among the trees and sharing communal roosts. Loud and vocal, they communicate with a variety of deep, rough sounds, and even their heavy wingbeats can be heard from a good distance away.
The specimen depicted is female, as can be interpreted by the blue eyes and pink orbital skin. Males typically have red eyes and black orbital colouring.
