Art Tumblr | Twitter | Fur Affinity |Cel Shaded illustration commissioned by of his original character, Jacken Rihan; he is a male alien (Dactan species), one of many characters from his science fiction novel that I've had the pleasure to illustrate for him.
This was a lot of fun to work on and I was pleased with how it turned out. Jacken is a fun character and it's always entertaining to see Doug talk about his characters (especially the strong personalities of Jacken and Ezren as they get into some pretty crazy shit) during my streams in the chat. It's also great to have more male characters to work on. Females might be my comfort zone, but it's always good to have something different for a change. And as with his previous commissions, I asked Doug if he would offer up a title for the piece.
As always, critiquing is not desired on commissions. They are finished pieces and my commissioners are happy with the final illustrations. Thank you.

Yup. That's Jacken, alright... Lovely work! And the colors are amazing! Even though they're cheery and bright, for some reason they give the pick a slightly ominous feel (especially when coupled with his eyes, which seem a bit downcast despite the smile on his face).

This piece really came out wonderfully. The colors and gritty background perfectly set up the great portrayal of the character.

Thank you, Doug. I love the way this one turned out and Jacken is just great fun to illustrate, with his smirk and charm. Working with both the grittiness and dramatic night life atmosphere are two of my fav elements, so the whole theme was a personal indulgence.
