Artwork that I began a while back, before the Hobbit movie would begin to co-exist with my own mental images of the book. I postponed publishing it for several reasons, but tonight, being Tolkien's birthday, it seemed appropriate as an homage. In that vein:The Professor!
The image shows, of course, Beorn on top of the Carrock. As Gandalf describes:
"As a bear he ranges far and wide. I once saw him sitting all alone on top of the Carrock at night watching the moon sinking towards the Misty Mountains, and I heard him growl in the language of bears: 'The day will come when they will perish and I shall go back!' That is why I believe he once came from the mountains himself."

On Saturday I saw the movie, and yesterday I was rereading the book to find the differences, and I read and when I arrived at the Carrock and Beorn , I imagine this same scene that you presents us!!

And, I suppose that's quite an honour. I was thinking to myself that if Peter Jackson didn't use the scene of bear-shape Beorn looking at the moon, it would be a waste of one fantastic moment, and I'm really curious how it might look if he used it, too.

Yes, me too - but after the first movie I'm mostly done being apprehensive. There may have been some problems with the pacing, but the characters I thought were fantastic.

Thanks! Textures are quite useful in tying everything together at the end of the manipping process. It's a lot of fun to simply go wild with them.
