Description Finished garb for my husband's character at the Bristol Renaissance faire. Drawing is here: [link]

I did not make his hat, boots, sword, frog, purse, stockings, chemise, or mug. I still plan on making a new hat for him, but until then, he'll use this one.

Brown fabric is 100% cotton, yellow is a striped 100% silk and the rust brown is a faux suede that i found to match the stocking that i bought from [link] I'm really excited how this one turned out. It's the best male costume i've ever made, and the first time making a genuine males noble garb. I didn't use any patterns, but spend a lot of time draping and fitting the fabric.

There are small semiprecious stones sewn onto the panels of the slops, which i plan to duplicate onto the jerkin eventually.

Colin is not wearing the man's bum roll in this picture yet.

No problem if you did because it looks like you featured several of mine anyway.

Yeah, I just had to send the message to everybody so I couldn't keep up with all of the deviants to whom I had already sent one..

Lovely costume! How did you get so many matching buttons at once? Did you buy them online? I once made a pirate coat and had to use two different sizes of buttons, and even so, just about bought all the store's stock between the two.

Thanks! Joann fabrics will order as many as you need, but they charge you about 7-9 dollars in shipping. The buttons cost me $40+ but it was worth it! I think you can also get places like Hancock fabrics to do it too, but i've never actually ordered from them.

Ahh... are those stores in the States? I've never heard of them, Fabricland seems to dominate, everywhere I've been at least.

oh yes, I'm sorry. They are in the US, and those are what dominates Wisconsin.

Okay, thanks anyways! If I go to Wisconsin, I'll know where to go for buttons.

Lovely fit on the sleeves.

I've been meaning to ask, what is a manly bumroll? A section of padding to fill out the hallow of the back? Or something different?

Thank you very much! It was hard to get them slim without being too tight.

to quote my friend heather "arming bolster (it just sounds so much more masculine than bum roll)..really isn't so much for shaping like a woman's roll is, it is to support the sword and rig."

but yes, cus i still like to call them bum rolls..mostly because i forget the other term for it, and women still call them bum rolls...but with us they are only used for fashion.. but it is the round stuffing that makes the back/sides stick out (up to about the pelvis bone on each side.
