I would title it "Cocktail Dress", but it only fit "dres" in, so "gown" it is

Anywho, my original concept for this challenge, which was to design a cocktail dress for a "Save the animals" party was based off a Grey Crested Crane. However, as one of the other entrants for the contest chose the same bird, I switched over to this lovely bird called the Victoria Crowned Pigeon:

Fabric choices. I'd have to go with silkessence (an alternative to real silk, as to protect the silkworms) for the gown (silkessence adds a little bit of texture), though a dyed silk could work just as well for someone who preferred the real thing. Pleated taffeta would be used for the underskirt. The choker could either be made of the silkessence or a sheer ribbon (organza possibly). The straps of the dress are pearl strands that criss-cross across the back. The necklace is a silver pendant with a ruby jewel, and the earrings are red bead hoops. In the hair is a barrette with synthetic feathers that are reminiscent of the feathers on the crown of the pigeon. The shoes are nice dark red, verging on burgundy, pumps (styled like this [link] ). A lil note, yes the skirting is angled to expose a bit more of the pleated fabric beneath, on the right (model's left side) of the gown. I like the contrast part in the middle of the gown, as the shape of it (and I think the color too) adds a nice slimming effect. And I like the little drape at the top ^^ It's cute! Oh, and you may ask, why the pleating? Cuz it reminds me of the feathers in a bird's wing and tail

And why design the dress around a bird such as this? To show respect to the beauty and elegance of the Victoria Crowned Pigeon, so that hopefully people will be less inclined to do harm to the bird That is the theme after all... "Save the animals!"
