I actually really like the princess seaming on the top with the longer cut back. The open neckline really shows off those collar bones, making the neck even more delicate, while still covering the breasts. That's actually the best looking part of my body ~giggle~ I'd wear it in a heartbeat.
It's a good interpretation of modern princess, because, lets face it, princesses can wear whatever they want, whenever they want. If I was a princess today, I'd wear 1200 era gowns with my hair down to the floor. Who would tell me it was wrong? ~giggle~ Definately gotta go with the purple though. The color of madness and royalty ^_^

I love the neckline more than anything - it would be flattering on most people, too!

its very lovely, but in all honesty, I was expecting something slightly more unique, as princesses have always worn fancy dresses, and this one has got period components of it. It looks more vintage than modern, and even though that's very 'in' right now in fashion, I haven't seen many gowns effected by those fashion fads. But, it was a pretty difficult concept, and the dress is stunning aside from that. good luck.

I think I agree with TrapDoorLover a bit. The dress has an image of being divided up in two...the top to me drapes so elegantly far down, it gives me a late 1920s paris couture vibe. I can definately see difficulty though cuz all royalties have a vintage-appeal. As a costume, its magnificent.

Really? I haven't seen many outfits from that time period, so I didn't know it resembled anything like that.

Ya, the drape you have is extrememly common if you ever take a look at coats from the late 20s...early 30s as well as custom made business suits in the early 1900s which posed to be very dramatic. I actually love vintage, and im heavily inspired by old fashion style sillhuoettes and everything. Which is why seeing this design made me really happy...until I realized that me being happy wasn't good cuz I only panick over classic-looking garments, lol.
I thought you did fine with the coloring...purple represents mystery and royalty, except you used a more modern purple.
