Thanks very much, Kevin.

BTW, I have just ordered the Candy Cane oxalis from a nursery in Nova Scotia. I am SO looking forward to my package arriving. I know the plant isn't hardy in this horrid climate, so what do I do with the bulbs when they get here?

Not being an indoor plants person, you understand! I have managed to kill every i.p. I've ever got, except spider plants, of course!

A lovely one Kat. The possibility of putting thumbs is useful.

Yes, I think it will be wonderful for the community, and maybe bring to light some hidden geniuses who we haven't met yet!

I like this one. The colours, are to me what makes it look the best.

How do you get those colours? Custom gradients? And how do you do it after you've chosen the actual gradient?

Mostly I use gradients created from my own photographs, or made in Paint.net. Adding the colours to the fractal is just a matter of selecting which gradient I want to use within the apophysis program. Occasionally, I will brighten or darken the colours using Picasa.

Thanks for your interest, and I'm pleased you like it.
Cheers

Do you tweak something while within Apophysis?

Not actually a tweak. Sometimes I change the settings for gamma or brightness, but that's all.

Huh.. Impressive!

I've never really been able to get a nice variety of colours in one fractal.

Sometimes, if there are only two transforms in a flame, you have to play with the colour settings, found in the Transform Editor box under, guess what? Colors!
ha, ha!
Anyway, if you open that tab, you will see a small image of your flame, and a drop down box with the transform numbers in it. Each drop down number corresponds to the slider below. Make sure you have a gradient with a fair variation of colours, then move the slider back and forth and see what happens.
I have sent you a note with params for a colourful fractal. Play with the Color setting and see what you get.
If you need more help, just let me know.
Cheers.
