Description Wolfpark - 2011
Wolfgang, Alpha Male - Main pack.

I was at Wolfpark this past Saturday, and spent the whole, bitingly cold afternoon, photographing the main pack of wolves. Oh, and don't get me wrong I am not complaining about the weather. Yes, it was damn cold. Yes, it was raining. Yes, it was windy. Yes, it began to snow. Did I care? No.

The weather just added to the wolves already photogenetic allure. There was no bright sun to make them lazy or lethargic in the middle of the day, and the rain made their fur stand out beautifully.

If you are wondering why Wolfgang is in a tree... Well, that is Monty Sloan's secret. You'd have to ask him, or visit the sanctuary yourself.

this is amazing. i love wolves, but i've never gotten close enough to one to photograph them like this.

I highly recommend personal visits. Though, as I have no idea where you reside I couldn't say with any knowledge were they might be in your area.

I could brag and say this particular wolf decided I was good enough to greet by sticking his muzzle right in my face...

However, I think I will just say that it was one of the best experiences in recent memory for me.

i'm so jealous. wolves are absolutely beautiful, being that close to one must have been an amazing experience!

there are wolves at the nearby zoo, but they don't let you get close enough for shots like this. which makes me a little sad.

Wow, this is an absolutely stunning photograph! :] I like the blur in the fore- and background and I also love how his dreamy eyes seem to watch something out of the picture. Good hunt! *gg*

I agree with the "bad weather", it's so much better sometimes. ;]

Thanks for the comments they are most appreciated. I can't claim to be an expert in photography, either. Though, I have had two more years of study at it than when I've been up around them before. But, that being said, sometimes good photographs are all about timing.

Yeah, that's true. But even good timing needs a lot of patience and practise - especially in wolf photography. Keep up the cool work! :]

Btw, Silent Lucidity from Queensryche was one of the first songs I've ever played on my guitar. It's such an amazing piece!

Ahh, a fan of Geoff Tate. I met him once. Great fellow. I agree about the song. Though, honestly my favorite has always been "Suite Sister Mary".

Aww, must have been a great moment! :] Well, many musicians seem to be out of reach, but actually it often turns out that most of them are really cool guys who enjoy a good talk.

Unfortunately, I've never been to a concert of them but I hope I'll do that in the future. *g*

It was grand. I met the whole band, actually, backstage after a concert. A few years after Lucidity was produced, but it was still a memorable experience.

Oh, it's kinda hard for me to pay a visit since I live in Romania, a crappy, dirty and poor country that I dislike more with every day that passes.
