I debuted Folken Fanel (v1) at IzumiCon 2008 this past weekend. I'm really pleased with how it came out though I have some fixes planned along with making the cloak, sword, sheath, and belt.I need to replace those hoses with lighter, more flexible ones so that I can achieve the effect I want (being able to have the hoses stay against the arm). As well I will be adding some metal pieces to cover the undersides of the fingers and using small tubes and/or wires to fill in deadspace on the arm.
Anyway, heres the first shot from Izumi!

xD xD Yes, the cat chicks! lol With our powers combined! Aww, but I love Eriya and Naria. I'd cosplay one myself if I found someone interested that was my size (as they are very much similar in body shape/size).

yes yes I love Folken ^_^ I dressed up my husband like him, I made the wig out of feathers a ball cap and spray painted it white and sky blue, your arm is amazing though... his was mostly fabric...

Wow I just stumbled across your cosplay photo while doing some research on folken. Really an amazing job. I want to cosplay as folken for NDK Denver, and hope it turns out as well as yours.
Do you have and detail shots of the arm? I'm playing with the idea of using a latex mold for it.

there REALLY needs to be more escaflowne cosplayers. its a toss-up for me between folken and dilandau, i might end up making costumes for them both eventually. lol. but holy crap i love how you did his costume here

I completely agree. Escaflowne definitely does not get enough love! I'm actually working on remaking the arm (it got a bit damaged) along with finishing his cloak. It's mostly because my friend is planning on making Varie (his mother) fairly soon and I can't wait!
I hope you do Dilandau atleast! He's so crazy and definitely needs to be cosplayed more.

I originally started out majoring in music (I'm a drummer), but it just stopped being fun when I had to practice 7 hours a day. x_x; So I got my degree in International Studies. Still not sure what I'm going to do with it.

i played baritone in high school, quit for advanced drama. im a spotlight hog, i want all the stage attention. lol. i love music, but not enough to practice 7 hours a day -.-

Well, I'm not anywhere near the best seamstress nor do I use actual patterns or know anymore than the basic sewing techniques. The best I could probably do would be to draw out a picture of the shapes my pieces ended up being. Most of my patterning is based off basic shirt/jacket and pant patterns then modified based on what I see what logically works in my head. 
I can give you that drawing, but I'm sure someone else could give you far more pointers and advice than I ever could.
