Description Hey, look! It's a crummy photo of a crummy painting, by Yours Truly.

My father was nice enough to send me some paint and canvases after I'd mentioned that I'd been entertaining ideas of trying my hand at real painting again (which I had tried and quickly abandoned as a teenager). The paints sat around for a couple years, and then about five months ago I decided that it was in my best interest to at least make some noise-with-intent on a canvas to familiarize myself with the functional aspects of the medium (I had, in prior months, made noise on canvas, but it was without intent, and I learned almost nothing from the exercise). This is the result. After investing a few hours in this, I decided I didn't like the direction it was going, so I left it as you see it. I did actually learn a few what-not-to-dos in the process, so it wasn't complete failure.

Oil on canvas, 16"x12".

i think its pretty cool. its like an idea of what might have been, or could be, some kind of wreckage. It looks like it could have been on the cover of a sci-fi novel 40 years ago, in my brain.

Well, that's a compliment I'll take gladly. I love old sci-fi book covers. Thanks!

Despite your feelings about the finished product, I think it has boatloads of character, and I like the muted, muffled colors. It feels almost like it has a heavy atmosphere.
