OMG this is so retro to be posting on dA but... but it feels right. I'm once again revisiting this beloved yet controversial series and starting with SFC1. Overall this re-read didnt offer anything new to me lmfao, like SFC1 is just very cute and nooby SFC because its just the first iteration. It's hella MOR because theres just not that much dialogue or strategy that goes beyond whether or not to pagong Drazen or Sky sneakily sneaking around like a sneak. The characters I love here are just Good. and the characters I hate are just Meh. cuz it's hard to feel strong things for this season overall since it's such a quick read lmao. It's a good start but I'm ready to read the rest hehehe..

RANKING:

#1: CHARLIE - lmfao I love that her personality is really just Bitch. She only exists to shit on other people for doing things she hates, which is everything. It makes it better when she is this underdog who refuses to strategize until she literally has no other choice lmfao in which her "strategy" is just to tell the people in the majority to vote for her. And then they do. owned! She makes for a good runner-up, it's actually so out of nowhere that she uses playing an honest game as her FTC argument lmfao. her random hatred for Taylor <333 Her voting confessional for Craig where she just says "Go kill yourself."
#2: MERIDETH - queen... Merideth is at her best when she's Rene's lackey who acts like shes running shit and gets cocky so she treats everyone terribly lol <3 When really she just does everything Rene says and only enjoys her. interrogating Hogan for hanging out with even a SINGLE Drazen was so funny. The ones who just GET Merideth get her.... the ones who DONT? dont.
#3: PAT - robbed from being 1st in this ranking honestly. Pat single handedly carried the pre-merge with Charlie and Oran. The way she was a chaotic mess in every vote... leading the charge against Eugene for calling Wendy a cyclops when both of them, during TC, say it wasnt a big deal lol <3 Convincing Charlie to vote against Phil to save Suzanna and then flipping on the plan lmfao and then causing the tie to save Charlie <33 It sucks that she was so unceremoniously booted at merge after all dat tho
#4: RENE - I used to LOOOOOOOVE Rene back in the gap, and I still do, but less so on this reread. She is still a queen, CP3 legend, etc, but I felt she only really grew into her best character at the merge when she was the Big Bad calling all of the shots and threatening all of the Schlipas to stay in line lmfao, omg and then her amazing last episode too. Also the fact that shes a lesbian... okay leave some slay for the rest of us please.
#5: TAYLOR - lmfao randomly more UTR than I remembered her being, but still great. Her having like a few panels of screentime every ep to do something ridiculous like drive a car for the first time, cut her finger, throw a horrific tantrum during the challenge <3 Manipulating Sky and Hogan to do her bidding just to get herself booted at F4 <3
#6: ORAN - KINNNGGG the way he was such a piece of shit who refused to play the game in any way and then say shit like "Why would anyone vote me out?!?" and "I think I made friends here" in the fallen comrades fgfd also was ahead of his time when he called Pat a furry bitch. I'LL GET YOU!
#7: BEA - trying to get Sky out of the game by saying he has cancer <3 robbed
#8: LYLE - hated the subtle homophobic jokes associated with this character but he still was fun and had random fun little moments, like when he wasnt shown at all in Ep 3 and had a close up of him sobbing when Bea got voted out lmfao. Spreading misinformation all ep long when he knew he was dying <3
#9: SKY - MEH! I went back and forth between liking him for a cute scheming schemer who took advantage of every situation and would randomly want to stay with his BFF Taylor all game and disliking him for being a stank cunt who was full of himself for making what was honestly the only move in the game lol and the fact that he's kind of a mary sue too, and theres nothing really satisfying about him winning. I did love him getting Hugo with the fake idol lmfao, but then hated him the next ep when he was out of character VICIOUS to Craig and didnt get shit for it.
#10: WENDY - boring lul she was cute and I like the idea of her but the writing wasn't good enough to make her a fun character and most of the time she was just a mor whore
#11: HOGAN - I used to HATE Hogan so this is #growth but I still barely liked him overall. I dont like the cocky self-insert personality that some early SFC characters have and Hogan is the definition of that and is just never really funny to me, but I do appreciate the strategy he would bring to the late game. Winning most of the challenges got boring though cuz it was like.... he didnt have any real competition anyways lol and the times he did lose didnt really feel that big of moments.
#12: PHIL - omg loved him wanting to eat his leg to the next episode being like You know what? I'm not here to be a stereotype, I'm here to play. and then was boring as fuck the rest of the time lmfao.
#13: EUGENE - CYCLOPS!! such a random first boot of SFC but iconic in his own right.
#14: SUZANNA - cute. but ultimately very inconsequential, thank you for being Pat's ally angel.
#15: CRAIG - didn't HATE him but didn't enjoy him either. I think it helped that he was hella UTR for the mid game/early merge and really only re-emerged to be bitched at by Skylar and unceremoniously booted after Rene lol. I hate this SFC trope but Craig was a pretty harmless version of it overall.
#16: HUGO - Was boring like most of the game just to be hella stank with the fake Idol and after he got got his only dialogue was like "I'm gonna GET YOU Sky you rodent!" just to... never really get revenge cuz he was voted out and Sky won lol. Cant really name a single moment that I liked about Hugo other than him getting fucked over
