My first digital painting, done start to finish in photoshop
This took WAY longer than it should have, since I generally have no clue what I'm doing in photoshop... but it was a lot of fun to do, it was a good learning experience.
There are some rough spots, but for a first try I think it came out pretty well. My only regret is not being able to incorporate Raichu's awesome little ear swirlies. ; ;
I would really like crits on this, it always helps to know what you're doing wrong

Wow, this has got to be the best Raichu representation I've ever seen. However, those ears do seem a little big... but, still, this is simply an awesome pic!

The detailing with the fur in the picture is excellent. Defining the strands really adds the intense feeling of the picture. The pose is pretty wicked as well, the type of image and pose you see when someone's just landed into the fierce battle or just did some type of epic move. Changing Raichu to fit your style looks really well. Gives the pokemon a different flare, doesn't have the same cartoonish love that it might have had before.
The biggest crit I have isn't the lack of a background but the tail. For some reason it seems really dislocated from the image if you get what I mean. It doesn't look like it mixes with the finished look of the rest of the image, almost like you were still working on it when you were finished.
You did an excellent job overall though. The detailing comes out well, the clouds add an omkljsadflkj fuckthatword effect that's creepy and stuff, and it's just well done. Photoshop just sounds more intimdating than it actually is and you can produce awesome results with it.

Haha, yeah. That's exactly the kind of mood I wanted from this picture, glad to see it kindasorta worked. 
Yeah, the tail is teh suck. If I hadn't flattened the layers like a total moron, I would go back and fix it... but ah well, learn from past mistakes, I guess.
Thank you very much! Yeah, photoshop can be pretty intimidating to learn... I've just been taking it one tool at a time, haha. Each picture I do, I seem to learn a new technique.

There's actually a few people on Deviant art who do awesome realistic pokemon and it's just love. Fanart is just annoying when you're not adding any new flavor to the mix, if you catch my drift.
Ah, that sucks. As long as you double check of ctrl+z, god that command is extremely useful when dealing with photoshop. I like to think Photoshop is just far more intimidating than it really is because of all the extra buttons and features. You usually find yourself ignoring 50% of what it can do because it's good for photos. . . . hence photoshop but that's totally besides the point.
No problemo though.

Yeah, realistic pokemon are just... <3 to me. Everyone seems to handle them differently.
Ctrl+z is undo, right? I usually just un-click stuff in the history window, haha... I'm not too good with hotkeys.

I can't use photoshop without hotkeys, you get addicted to them. I'm the kind of person who likes learning all the little hidden doors in a program though. >.> Kinda nerdy like that. <.<'

I guess I'm the opposite, the only hotkeys I can remember is that ALT is for the eyedropper tool and spacebar is the move tool. 
Maybe that's why everything takes me so long, because I do it all manually...

It would be kinda hard to teach, since I don't really follow one specific process... heck, sometimes I don't even remember what I did to get a certain effect.
But if you have questions, you could always send me a note and I'll try to answer them the best I can. However, I am no photoshop genius, so my knowledge is kind of limited.

Thats awesome!!! seeing areallistic raichu is sweet!!!! The only crit I have is that the tail is pianted to soft, I also have this problem, because I too are just starting out learning how to piant in photoshop!! anyways great job!!!!

First off, that is one really good piece. The shading and detail is immense. The detail on the white fur is really eyecatching.
I think you should of done a bit more detail on raichu's tail. The lighting bolt doesn't seem to be part of him, it just seems to be part of the background.
I really like the static, really sharp. Really stands out from the picture.

Unfortunately, the lightning bolt was the very last thing I did, and by then I was running out of steam... I just wanted it to be done, and of course, I think the overall picture suffered because of my impatience. @_@
