Description
The picture is of a Vinegaroon, also known as a Whip Scorpion. It's not really a scorpion, although it resembles one.

If it gets frightened it will "spray vinegar", by which I mean it will suddenly have a mild vinegar scent to it that goes away in a short bit. Pretty easy smell for a human to ignore, but I can see how it might make a dog, cat, skunk, or some other critter loose interest in eating it. I guess what I'm saying is, even though it's pretty big, don't be afraid of it at all.

Vinegaroon are supposed to eat slugs and bugs and whatever it can capture. I had it a few weeks, and I fed it a cricket, a dragonfly, and a big grasshopper. If you give it something dead, it doesn't seem to realize it can be eaten, unless you move it around a little so it thinks it's hunting it down.

I let this one go quite a while back, but I tried to get a few pictures first. The Vinegaroon made it tricky, because as soon as I put it on the ground, it started walking straight for a shadowy place to hide. I kept having to pick it up and move it out into the open until I decided I had enough attempts.
