Description
Acrylic and emulsion paint on canvas.A scene from Robocop, which I painted on canvas and gave to my brother for his 30th birthday last year. Approx A2 sized.
Looking back at it I probably should've not painted the villain and just had ED-209 with guns blazing. The way I painted it it looks like the robot is trying to walk forward and there's a middle aged man in the way.

ED-209 always gave me nightmares as a kid. I still shiver at the scene when ED-209 glitches. XD

ED-209 was so cool, but the darn thing couldn't ever go up stairs. What a blow. I think even if he hadn't blown away that one guy in the beginning, it still wouldn't have worked because of that. Here's a funny idea of a scene featuring that:
*It is during that whole interrigation with Ron Miller, former city councilman*
Ron Miller: First, don't F*** with me. I'm a desperate man. And second, I want some fresh coffee. And third, I want a recount. And no matter how it turns out, I want my old job Back!!
*All the while, ED-209 is struggling up a flight of stairs and can't get to him*
Ron Miller:*Still going on with his demands* And I want a bigger office. And I want a new car. And I want the city to pay for it all.
*ED-209 is still struggling. It puts on foot on the stairs and tries to get the to next, but can't. In desperation, it tries to fly up them in a single bound, and ends up falling on the ground and writhing to get up, making that weird animal noise like a pig giving birth.*
Police: Aw, what the hell. Open fire!
*The police open fire whilst Ron Miller is still distracted, and kills him instantly. The old man shows up*
Old Man: Dick, I'm VERY disappointed.
Dick Jones: Oh, I'm sure this can be worked out. Just have ED-209 handle 1 story buildings. No Problem.
Old Man: Are you even serious? A one story buiding in detroit?! This is a city, not a small town! You call this the future of law enforcement when it can't even accomplish something as arbitrary as climbing stairs?!
Dick Jones: Look, you appointed me to do this for security concepts. Stop overreacting. Problems get solved. Why is it whenever we get the slightest setback, you start hollering at me, like it's the end of the world?!
Old Man:90 Million Dollars!
Dick Jones: You know what, F*** you, I Quit. I've quit better jobs than this. *Under his breath* I'm going to team up with Clarence Boddiker. Then you'll be sorry!

I feel, and perhaps this is more boring, that if "Kenny" (LOL no reference to South Park- that is his name) hadn't been killed then the Miller situation might have been the turning point anyway when they realised that huge machines are no good for old office buildings without large goods lifts. No attempt at getting an ED 209 up there even necessary to realise this.
Hell, it may even have been the hostaged Mayor who put forward the money to fund Robocop. Assuming he survived.

I always thought Robocop was a very memorable film of the late 1980s. Especially since its one of the few American movies that touches upon the theory of robotics and cybernetics. Nice word you've done here by the way. It's really awesome.

ah nice. ed 209. thats a design for a robot that i think wll never be beaten. i always thought it would have been more suited for the terminator movies, have them knocking about in the background, i used to be shit scared of ed 209 when i was a kid.
i really like it, hope ya brother was pleased with it.

No, I think painting Dick in there was a good move. After all, he was the villain, while ED-209 was just his creation. In any case, I loved Robocop, and I think this totally rocks.

To be honest, it took me a while to come up with that. It had been a while since I saw that film. Now I have it on DVD, so I can watch it any time I want to.

That picture reminds me of that moment in the film where RoboCop tries to arrest Dick Jones, but is unable to because of the secret Directive 4.
