Description Title says it all. No, it really does, I swear XD
*cough* Okay, to those who know neither the person on the drawing nor Bulgarian for that matter, let me elaborate. This is my friend who goes by the name of Gadina Prokleta (he has a "real" name too, but he never minds that one), which happens to be quite a difficult phrase to translate. A "gadina" (or just "gad" for short) is a Bulgarian word for a number of pests, vermin and generally animals, usually considered as harmful and / or annoying to the population; the word "prokleta" on the other hand means straightforwardly "cursed, damned, wicked, vicious" etc. So, you get the idea, it's really difficult to translate the feeling behind this name, but in any case the words "nasty" and "damn" are sure to occur. So that's my friend. Also, he's an elf.

Soooooooo.... my damn nasty friend Gad has a birthday today. And what do I do around birthdays? Well, of course, I draw portraits of people being birthed on the day XD Even if it has to happen in perfect spite of my psychological and emotional fatigue and in total disregard of the fact I am currently already overburdened with work to do this week, I'm miserably behind on a few schedules, and generally exhausted as a consequence of all that. But it doesn't matter, because cause. And so, I sneaked into my brother's fuckbook (as is my custom on these occasions, because I don't have my own fuckbook account), I stole a couple of photos from Gad's own unsuspecting profile, and then I started drawing. Curiously enough, about a day later I was kindly informed by my brother that nasty Gad will celebrate a nasty birthday on a lawn in the city on Sunday and we two happen to be invited. Well, what can I say? I'd hardly ever been better prepared for a birthday invitation. And so I drew on.
Here's the point where I say a few actual words about the drawing and its process. I mentioned that I stole photos. Most of Gad's photos EVER are from LARPS or LARP-related meetings (to the very uninformed muggles out there - this stands for "Live-Action Role Playing" and is a kind of ummm.... game XD ), meaning that there's hardly ever a photo out there that contains a Gad without a fantasy / stalker-ish outfit on him and a bow / sword / gun / chopper / whatever in any of his battling hands. All the better because, since he is an elf indeed, it'd be only natural for me to draw him in elvish clothes, and I didn't even have to design an outfit for that purpose, I just had to keep to the reference Of course, there was the other problem that none of the photos I found while I hastily rummaged through his albums (in quite a nervous hurry because, you know, stealthish robbery business) none of them was exactly the pose and expression I wanted. (It's a whole different story I didn't know exactly what I wanted, as usually XD ) So I chose a couple of photos and decided I'd do a little of both. Finally, I did mainly one, with just a little touch of the other. Still not sure what I wanted, to begin with X3
So the drawing is mostly after its reference (which link below), but not exactly. First, because I changed his expression, based a bit on another photo, and second - because I added a couple of details. Indeed, most of the outfit is just as in the photo, conviniently enough. This his real elvish armour and very real emblem, but I added a quiver of arrows on his back (because I can), a small ponytail on the back of his head (because he often wears that anyway), and a little branch of ivy leaves entangled in a lock of hair, because.... why, why the ivy? Two reasons - first, because it's damn elvish (although his outfit is red actually.... ah, but the privilege of colorless graphite drawing XD ). Second, because ivy leaves and a hair lock mean less chainmail space to be drawn. Of course, it turned out that the ivy leaves are A LOT more difficult and tricky than chainmail, but AAAAAAAAHHHEEEY, who cares?! Still, elvishness
Oh, in case I didn't mention. Yes, I drew ivy leaves. With a pencil. And a chainmail (never thought I'd do that). If you look up in the clever books these two activities line up as two of the top five diagnostic traits that identify a random stranger as a total psychopath. So yeah, if you see someone do that - RUN. Run for your life. Run bitches, because he's gonna get you and positively rape you. With a pencil.
I'm SUCH an idiot

After that clumsy remark, I think I'm done XD Should have said it a minute before? Eh, bad luck.

I should probably mention that Gad is really one of the friendliest and most positive people.... err, alright - elves I've ever known. Which makes me love his choice of a truly awesome nickname even more.
Happy new year, Gad

P.S. Gad loved the drawing. Frankly speaking, if half the people reacted like he did, I'd be drawing 24/7.... eh, dreams.

Oh, this is the actual crest of his elven fraction in the LARP. And he does actually have it on his armour, all referenced Thank you!
