I'm glad you like it but it's not original; it's been around a long time.

Great Stamp. I'll be using that at the bottom of my DevID ...

I'm not very good at doing those stamps but I think I'll try to do one for FSM ....

I myself neither belong to a church nor do I believe totally in evolution, but I live by this little quote:

"I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is."

Heh. I'm agnostic-atheist, leaning more toward the atheist. Don't know vast amounts about science as I'm more of an art-and-computer sort of girl so I'm not sure if I believe Darwin' theories 100% but generally I believe in evolution...and I really don't understand why it can't go hand in hand with Christianity, but perhaps I'm just crazy.

Anyway, back to what I was saying; Nice take on the fish. Kinda funny but still serious enough to make a statement ^^

A few CENTURIES have passed, and Church decided to accept (some of?) Galileo's discoveries, so don't worry, just a few more centuries until it accepts evolution

Darwin was truly correct in his theories of evolution. I'm happy to celebrate his 200th birthday this year! ^w^

It still does shock me how many still believe in creationism even when all of the evidence and facts of evolutionism are shown to them.

Kudos to you for making such a great stamp! If I had a sub, I'd totally use it! A is all I can do for now.

LaPurr In reply to CrimsonNightshade [2009-02-22 22:06:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!

It's nice to be reminded that that there are people who understand how clear and right his discoveries are, given the current climate of anti-science fueled by the fundie xians.

Velvet--Glove [2009-01-06 23:51:15 +0000 UTC]

I've just got to this and put it in my journal stamp collection.

I saw a documentary about Darwin recently - very interesting - but what really shocked me was hearing how many people still genuinely believe his theory is "unproven". It just leaves me speechless with disbelief, I cannot even begin to comprehend that way of thinking.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

GranisSilverhair In reply to Velvet--Glove [2009-03-12 05:57:01 +0000 UTC]

Well to be technically speaking, it is unproven; Just as gravity has never been 'roven'.

See in science, nothing can be proven positive, they can only be disproven.

Here's a quote from AronRa:

"Even if a theory passes every test forever, we still wouldn’t say it was proved, because positive proof exists only in matters of mathematics or law, wherein evolution actually has been proven. Otherwise, no theory has ever been proved, nor can be. They can only be dis-proved. And when that happens, a theory that doesn’t work must be replaced by one that does. We can’t discard any theory just because we haven’t perfected every part of it yet. You can’t trade something that works for nothing that doesn’t. If the original theory works at all, you’ll still have to use it, and perhaps fix it. But we can’t dismiss it until we can replace it with something better. And Darwin’s theory is actually better-supported than Newton’s theory of gravity. "
