Okay so first some background information... Myceliads are similar to Dryads, but with mushrooms instead of trees. Unlike Dryads, Myceliads can be both male OR female instead of being exclusively female. They have weaker magic, but they're more resilient. Like Dyrads and Sayateli, the children of Myceliads don't start out as Myceliads, but are instead born from their birth mushrooms as Gribniki (or Gribnik, singular). Unlike Dryads, all Gribniki are born with a Heart Spore (instead of a Heart Seed) and can become Myceliads by returning their spore to their birth mushroom when they come of age.

Long ago, the Myecliads and the Dryads lived together in the Kingdom of Arborum... but then a terrible incident occurred where the Myceliads attacked the Dryad village. The Dryads fought back, and there was much bloodshed. In the end, the Dryads won the battle, forcing the Myecliads to leave the forest forever. Traumatized from the war, the Dryads took on a vow of peace, choosing to become pacifists for generations to come.

Tamala is a Dryad with a Dark Oak tree of birth. She used to live in Arborum Forest along with her sister Illana, until one day she met a young Myceliad boy named Brendon, who was living in the forest in secret for most of his life. Despite her tribe's opinions of the Myceliads, Tamala decided to keep her friend a secret from her family. Their friendship quickly turned into more than just friendship, and Tamala fell in love with the Myceliad boy. They decided to elope and marry in secret, and Tamala's family was none the wiser... until three little Gribniki sprouts appeared on her branches. She was going to have children.

She tried to keep the little sprouts hidden for as long as she could, but eventually Illana found out. Tamala made her promise not to tell the others about it, but regardless Tamala's parents quickly learned the truth. Tamala was forced to reveal her secret and explain everything, and her parents were horrified. They immediately brought her to Queen Aponi.

The Queen was sympathetic of the situation, and gave Tamala permission to stay with Brendon... on one condition. She had to leave Arborum. She harbored no ill-will towards the Myceliads (unlike many others in the village, who had their own bias) but due to the nature of Myceliads, any children born between a Dryad and Myceliad would be always be Gribniki. If they allowed her to stay, then over many generations the Myceliads would outnumber and overtake the Dryads, potentially into extinction (though of course, this is obviously a worst case scenario). She would still be allowed to visit, but despite this Tamala no longer wanted to. She left Arborum with Brendon, harboring a newfound disdain towards her people for discriminating against her husband and children.
