Description Made out of a heavy 8.5oz 100% Cotton Twill, the Steeplejacks are based on the style of pants worn by Japanese construction workers known as Tobi pants.

The Steeplejacks feature signature Lastwear design elements such as the double layer chevron style back yoke and a snap fly flap.
The bottom of the legs fit tight around the calf and also feature a snap closure. The thighs are reinforced all the way down to below the knee with a second layer of fabric.

Please specify which size you need when you order. Our waist sizes are given in actual inches so we recommend you check with a tape measure before you buy - Your actual waist measurement in inches is almost NEVER the same as the label in your pants.

As the Steeplejacks have extremely long legs they should fit anyone with an inseam of 28" or greater.

If you're interested please email us @ sales@lastwear.com and we can make some to order. Made to order items may take between 6-8weeks to deliver although we always try to get them done quicker. Prices for made to order items will vary depending on choice of fabric.

Or if you are need now you can check out our Store to See what we have in stock now at www.lastwear.com. if you don't want to got through our whole inventory please click link [link]

Hi hope you don't mind, but I liked this photo enough in and of itself that I used it for inspiration in a not-for-sale drawing [link] today. (I bought a pair of these steeplejacks from you in almost the same color a few years back, and although I looked at their seam placement up close during the sketching phase, the exact pose of the middle photo isn't something I could easily draw and wear simultaneously, y'know?)

Faved for future use. Out of curiosity, how much are these customizable? Rather, how much will you modify them to an order?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to lionsilverwolf [2010-05-11 02:59:24 +0000 UTC]

At the moment we'll go hunt down a different fabric color or make adjustments to fit but that's it for right now. Custom work takes up tons of time for us so it's not very economical. In the future we hope to have more options available though.

Additional pockets? (Pockets are a very very good thing to have a lot of) The kind on, like, cargo pants/shorts, where they're external. Out of honest, 'I've tried making clothes' curiosity, how much harder is it to add those?

Lastwear In reply to lionsilverwolf [2010-05-14 19:13:29 +0000 UTC]

not to hard

What can I say...? These pants are the bee's knees. They're definitely my cup 'a tea. Now to scrounge up $160!
I'm a pretty small person, 'bout 25" inseam, 36" hips, 32" waist ('cause I practically wear my pants on my butt). Do you think those numbers could be put into a pair of super awesome pants?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to vent0 [2009-09-08 20:11:47 +0000 UTC]

I do believe we can make you a nice pair of pants, just email Thom B at sales@lastwear.com and he can give you answer any questions that you have.

Howabout those tied new canvas hakama? Are those available yet?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to Gurg30 [2009-03-23 14:55:21 +0000 UTC]

Not sure which ones you mean. All the /hakama have side ties so that the legs can be tied up. We do currently have a selection of the argo hakama available in a natural un-dyed color.

Gurg30 [2009-03-16 23:49:03 +0000 UTC]

Would it take as long without the cargo pockets?

Please pardon me for my ignorance, but what's the difference between twill and canvas?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to Gurg30 [2009-03-17 16:50:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, same amount of time with the cargo pockets. The reason for giving you that wait time is so I can be sure I can deliver. I'll be the one sewing them up and bear in mind I work a full time job in addition to running Lastwear. With Sakura Con coming up in less than a month I don't have much free time to sit down at the machine So I'd much rather give you a longer wait time than risk promising too much up front.

Twill is more like a denim weave (look close at some jeans and you'll see all those diagonal lines in the cloth) Canvas is a plain weave (more like you'd see on a back pack only it'd be cotton not a synthetic fiber)
Hope that makes sense,

-Thom B.

We haven't made any yet but if you want a pair we could make some up to order.

Gurg30 In reply to Lastwear [2009-03-16 16:56:19 +0000 UTC]

Cool, would it still be $140? And how long would it take?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to Gurg30 [2009-03-16 23:22:00 +0000 UTC]

$160 with cargo pockets. It'd take about 4 to 6 weeks (might get it done sooner but we've got Sakura Con coming up real soon which will keep us very busy).
At the moment we're all out of the Black twill, but we could make them up in a black canvas.

Hey, thanks for taking a look through my gallery! Glad you liked my stuff. Just out of curiosity, how much do you think a cargo version of these pants would cost, anyways?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lastwear In reply to Frenotx [2008-10-04 22:31:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I think we'll charge $140 for a cargo pkt version.

Hmm. That's pretty stiff, when it comes to my clothing budget. However, I work as a consultant and I am expecting some jobs sooner or later. If those work out, I would definitely be interested. I'll really like to pick up one of those Armour Hoodies, as well.

Yeah, I can't claim they're cheap. US made comes with a price but you do get a lot for your money - they'll last a good long time.

Love the way you are modernizing a classic design. Like the way utilikilt and amerkilt are using modern fabrics to make kilts cool again. I've always thought hakamas look hot on the right guy. yum!

I used to work with Utilikilts so I think some ofthe design ethos must have rubbed off. Mens clothing options have been pretty borring for way to long now.
