Vanorama Enorma - July, 2011Acrylic on canvas, 72"x36"
This is a larger version of my Vanorama painting with more focus on the water and the iridescent quality of the western light reflected in the glass and metal buildings. I love this view. This, to me, is quintessential Vancouver. The bridges, the Oz-like radiance in the setting sun, and the jagged mountainscape backdrop. There's an almost unreal and unreachable quality to the downtown peninsula of Vancouver.

U Kno,I Beleive The Best Thing About You Work Is Trying To Figure Out,Just Where Exactly It Is A Painting Of Before U Actually Tell Us In The Desciption. & It Is Sumthing I Enjoy Doing,Trying To Figure Out. To Be Honest I First Thought This Was A Veiw Of New York,Wit The Golden Gate Bridge,But Witout The Statue Of Liberty In Veiw. The Vivid Distortion Nd Surreal Effect Somewat Detract Frm The Question 'Where?' Nd Draw Towards 'Wat??!' I Loved This,Quite Wonderful.

Much appreciated. Cityscapes are universal. Sometimes I think Vancouver is kind of generic, building-wise, so other than the mountains it could be any city.
