Awesome! You think you do a group picture of the Combaticons like you did with the Stunicons?

Whew. I just played through Fall of Cybertron, and I got a pretty good impression of Vortex and the other Combaticons (although I must admit, as a die hard 'con fan I am not difficult to impress). Now we have a version of Vortex who is completely unhinged, maybe one of several. It's difficult to keep track, with all the versions of a character that are floating around...

Why do all the most interesting Decepticons seem to be serial killers? You can't tell me Vortex doesn't give off Hannibal Lecter vibes here.

Wonder who's the more sadistic copter; Vortex or Airrachnid?
Really? I'll have to check out that story sometime then.

And now that we've brought the two of them up, somewhere someone is working on a fanfic where they're in a relationship. Breakdown suddenely disappears under strange circumstances and Vortex shows up as a new member of the con crew, working alongside Airrachnid in the torture department. What starts out as a competitive "Who's the bigger sadist" rivalry becomes as close to a healthy respect as either can muster and ends with Vortex giving Arcee to Airrachnid as a gift or something.
...God I need to get out more, my brain is starting to scare me.

Well the season finale is coming up soon, who knows who could show up at the last minute. And since Screamer's been welcomed back to the fold, he can always find some way of bringing the Combaticons into the group. Not like Megs would turn them down; he's lost Hardshell, Airrachnid, Breakdown...twice technically, and I'm pretty sure he finds Knock-out insufferable.
Who knows what could happen next season?

Fair point, personally I kinda wish Starscream had remained on the outs with the cons long enough for him to try bringing in the Combaticons. But you're probably right; Constructicons have actually been mentioned as a subgroup in the show.
I'm only gonna point out one thing; this set up isn't exactly new for the Transformers. We have no idea how the revitalization process actually works, and with energon supplies at an all time low thanks to the war, odds are the bots would have to remain on Earth if for no other reason than to get enough to keep the reconstruction process fueled. Honestly that might be an interesting direction; split the forces between Cybertron and Earth; Team Prim remains on Earth after starting up the recovery process in order to defend humanity and to harvest energon while another group (Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers, Engineering corps, hell even Grimlock and the Dynobot) oversees construction on cybertron and keeping the decepticons in line. The reverse can work for the Cons too; and since Megatron doesn't give a shit about humanity, he'd be much more brazen in his harvesting/conquests for the sake of rebuilding Cybertron. And since the Cons always seem to outnumber the Autobots, they've proably got more than enough soldiers or subgroups (Constructicons, Combaticons, Stunticons) to split between The Nemesis and Kaon. At least that's a better reason for the bots to stick around than just their "pet" humans. And I agree, they have become more obnoxious this past season...except Raf and Fowler for some reason.

I like the idea of Starscream bringing the Combaticons back in G1, but the concept wouldn't work well in TFP. Starscream had already tried to create his clone army, and he failed miserably. He got all the Omega Keys, yet he still didn't get the upper hand when he tried to negotiate with Megatron. Sometimes I doubt the writers just wanted to make Starscream a plain laughingstock for entertainment...
Hmm, that makes sense. And it would be cool to see more characters. Sometimes I couldn't help but wonder where all the other bots have been to, since Cybertron looks like a barren place and the only life forms living on the dead planet are those scary Insecticons.
And considering the writers' ability, I don't think the idea of "split the force" would work in this case. Look at how they treated Dreadwing and Wheeljack: These two were meant to be important (at least they're way more important than those we-all-look-alike drones on the Nemesis), but sometimes they just disappeared from the show like they never existed at all. If the writers could barely handle these few characters, how are they supposed to handle more characters and write a decent story? It would be a disaster.
As to the kids... well, they've become insufferable, and I can no longer endure their nonsense. Another interesting fact is that the Decepticons actually spent some time and efforts to kidnap the "right" kids to threaten the Autobots when Megatron demanded the Keys. Honestly, the 'Cons can grab any random human as their meat shield whenever the Autobots and Decepticons engage in battles. I'm sure the tactic can be pretty efficient because Optimus will always put the human's safety first.
