The fanart is for chapter 22 of 's fanfic How We Seared the Sky.At the very begining of this chapter, Thunderblast tortured Mikaela by sending electronic energy through her body and nearly killed her, then she threw the unconscious girl in front of the already damaged Ratchet and enjoyed seeing the painful expression on the medic's faceplate (p.s. Ratchet became Mikaela's guardian by Optimus's command in chapter 3). This is the scene of Ratchet reaching out a hand to cover his charge's body while Thunderblast kept mocking the failure of the Autobot medic.
I didn't know how to draw Ratchet's hand because I couldn't find any good picture for reference. At last I decided to draw the robot's hand according to my own hand
(well, I also looked up some photographs of the Ratchet figure but the hand part looked so small and unclear in those photos...) I'd like to try drawing some robots next time but the movieverse Transformers are so complicated - it's so hard to draw the robots well. I just hope Ratchet's hand doesn't look too weird in this pic, drawing the movieverse Transformers is really a difficult task to me...

Yeah, I know how you feel about failing someone. Everyone will feel the same when such thing happens. I felt so sorry for the characters when I first read the story... Poor them.

Wow, you're right! I've never thought of that before. Come to think of it, the Autobots' armors were more colorful indeed compared to the Decepticons in the movies. And it would be kind of creepy if a 'Con was being so gentle to Mikaela like this...

yeah, that's what I thought too. I mean, Bee = yellow, Optimus = red and blue, ratchet = highlighter yellow, the only ones that come to mind that are devoid of colour are Sideswipe, Jazz, and Ironhide

And two of those grayscale Autobots died in the movies. Jazz got killed in the first movie, and Ironhide in the third. Maybe the colors have something to do with good luck.

Obviously he didn't really care about the fans' feelings because he killed those characters off like they didn't matter. Especially Ironhide's death. So unworthy!

I felt so sorry for both Mikaela and Ratchet when I read that part. Seriously, being tortured like that must be insanely painful... and Ratchet couldn't do anything but watch his charge suffer. Poor them.

You should try some TFA robots. I wanted to draw transformers so bad but there was no way I would draw movieverse so I down graded to TFA and its workin out great for now

I don't know, I guess I just don't really like drawing robots, no matter they're those complicated Bayformers or the much more simple G1 style robots... That's why I humanize these bots most of the time when I want to do some TF fanart.

Mine are pretty humanized as well. If you check my recent work. The TFA mechs are ... less mechy and more human like just... really big humans in armor. Least ones like Jazz and Prowl.
