This is a really nice shot and it has great mood. I really dig the background with the blurred colour spots since it adds dynamic to a static image.
If you allow me a minor critique, I would think that having a bit more depth would have a bigger impact - the title is Dad so having more of his face in focus might be ok here. It's a great shot nonetheless, one your Dad should be proud of. Well done.

Cool nice to hear you like it. I have been having fun with the 1.8 and have been shooting things wide open a lot - it's easy to fall into ruts. I don't see what the title has to do with how much of my father's face should be in focus that's a bit of a non-sequitur.
