Description The Charmander group, closely related to the Magby group, have evolved one of the more fascinating forms of temperature control ever seen in reptiles. Reptiles are unable to control their body temperature, usually relying on behavioural strategies to warm up or cool down. But these Pokemon have developed a new way of regulating body temperature. The thick skin that grows on the end of their tail secretes a flammable liquid that it keeps alight at all times, this flame runs close to blood vessels in the tail that heat up when close to the flame. When the Pokemon it hot or cold it adjusts the flame accordingly. This had enabled this Pokemon to survive in a whole new range of habitats not previously accessible by ecothermic Pokemon.

Even from a young age this popular starter Pokemon shows it’s potential as a flyer, as it grows Charmanders limbs become thinner and it’s bony back begins to sprout wings. It’s body is filled with flammable air that it expels at will to create great flames, as it grows into Charizard this air is also used to lighten it’s body for flight.

While these Pokemon will not die if their flame is extinguished it does remove their ability to control their temperature, they can then resort to behavioural techniques until their can relight the flame. If this occurs in extreme cold or hot habitats, loosing its flame can be fatal. Trainers do well to ensure that they feed this Pokemon good quality food to ensure the flammable liquids are continuous.

This is brilliant! Charmander was always my favourite starter, and I like how you've made them leaner (and therefore more aerodynamic) and added a logical explanation for the flame on their tail

Ahh one of my favourite starters (even though it was the 'hardest' to start with). The pictures look incredible!!! but not the cute charmander I love haha. Again too, the awesome details that bring the pokemon to to (more) realistic perspectives are awesome, a flammable liquid, I guess their tail skin is fire-proof then . Umm... could I request Eevee/eeveelutions or Ditto at some point? I'd love to see your rendition of them.

I enjoy reading on your Pokemon biology and your realistic drawings Gives a good idea on how Pokemon are like if they are real creatures.

I'm also a fan of the Charizard family. I acutually have a Charizard named Drake in my Soulsilver team.
