From the novel "Notre Dame de Paris" by Victor Hugo; La Esmeralda is the 16-year-old Gypsy girl that enchants all those around her, one to the point that he would denounce everything he has worked for just in order to make her his own. Here she is with her pet goat Djali with her gilded horns and hooves and the bag of letters around her neck to spell out that magical name "Phoebus".

It have always liked detail and La Esmeralda has been a character that I have loved for ages and never found a realistic depiction of her. She is European who was kidnapped by Gypsies (and not a natural Gypsy), she had beads in her hair, bare shoulders and short sleeves, a gilded corset, short colourful skirt and sandals. I wanted to try a picture of her, but my skills in people are limited compared to animals.

This was a black a white drawing I cleaned up and gave a VERY simple colour touch-up, I may go back and add more detail… but I have many more pictures in plan, including one requested of a character called Sasori from Naruto….
