African lion ( Panthera leo)The zoo has 3 african lions : a male and 2 lionesses. The male has no tail, and don't ask me why, I don't know. All I know is that these lions where confiscated from a circus where they were mistreated.

wow, I would have guessed this one to be the young male ( not yet with a mane) Beautiful Lion. I have become a circus protester because of storys like this. Only circuses with wild animal acts... They don't need to do that in todays age. People enjoy seeing the human acts. There is nothing entertaining about watching animals do things that does not come natural to them, watch an elephant stand on a wash tub or big cats sit in a circle while an jack ass cracks a whip.
When they are not performing, they are traveling from place to place in TINY cages full of their urine and crap! I am glad that these lions were saved from this abuse.

I went to a circus menagerie 2 years ago ( I didn't see the show, I never go see the show in a circus with animals ). I'm one of these persons who want to see with its own eyes. They must be ashamed . . . These tigers ( inclunding a rare and beautiful golden tabby ), these lions, these leopards . . . poor cats 
These 3 lions live in far better conditions than in their ancient circus now

I am very glad to hear it.. Not everyone that goes to a circus is bad, they are just unaware. Alot of zoos aren't much better but there are so many zoos that do good work. And lets face it.. none of the animals that were born in captivity can go back into the wild so they need to go somewhere. I will have to check out your photos. I love the big cats.
