Description As adventure continues, our heros meet a mysterious lake Nymph. Will she tell them something interesting?
The Dragon Unicorn - Chapter 07Gallan, Slin, and Zair reached a lake near the wild boars' grove. The forest was thicker and darker here. A spreading willow leaned over the lake and its twigs brushed the surface of the water, which shone with a bluish glow. - I'll leave you here, my little ones. - Zair said. - Thank you very much for your help and inviting us to the grove. - Slin responded. - But it's all right, Miss! It was a pleasure hosting you and the Dragon Unicorn. Please visit us again sometime. I'll show you where the tastiest raspberries grow. - With pleasure! - Gal replied much more enthusiastically than he wanted. - If only we’ll get back and I’ll… still be me. - I have no doubts about it. Good luck! Zair turned and, humming to himself, went back to the grove. Slin and Gal, on the other hand, started walking along the lakeshore, hoping to meet Nymph in a moment. - Hello! Is anyone here? - Gall called when, after some time of walking, they saw nothing. - We are looking for a Nymph who supposedly can help us. - Slin added. Nothing happened. From the moment they reached the lake Gal tried his best not to look at the reflection in the water, fearing what he might see there. After a while, however, that fear began to give way to an irresistible urge to look at it. Something was drawing both Gal and Slin to the lake. A melody or soft singing heard in the depths of their minds. And so, step by step, not quite consciously and not knowing when, two friends found themselves on the very edge of the lake. Their gazes was locked on their own reflections, and then slowly moved to the figure emerging from the water. In front of Slin and Gal stood the Nymph, partly hidden behind willow twigs. - Well, well. Such an unusual guests came to visit me today. - her smooth as water voice spread like mist across the space. - Deeply lost Dragon Unicorn and Siffa with strong feeling of guilt come to ask for my help. - Hmm, you seem to know quite a bit about us, Nymph. - Gal said, clearly disconsolate with the fact that some unknown being knows about him what he explicitly did not want to share. - Only what can be seen at the first glance. - Nymph replied slowly - You would be surprised how much the superficiality of many beings hides and how easy it is to read from it. And with a bit of magic... you can also glimpse inside. She smiled mysteriously. - Then I don't have to tell you what brings us here since you can just tear the answers out of our thoughts yourself. - he replied and anger began to seep through him. The Nymph watched the unicorn in silence for a moment then replied. - Calm down Dragon Unicorn. Anger can burn yourself and everything which surrounds you. But you already know that, don't you? Instantly, Gallan shifted his gaze to Slin and felt as if the emotions of the memory of accident in the Tree of Birth tear his heart apart. He would never forgive himself if something happened to his friend because of him. - Nothing happened to your Siffa and to the Tree, but this piece of forest by the stream... - she stopped and shook her head - what a pity. The unicorn's eyes widened. Now it was Siffa who looked at him and, in a flash, a chain of events formed in her mind. Trying not to let it show, she quickly shook herself out of her thoughts and said. - I don't blame him. Now stop playing games with us and tell us are you willing to help. Nymph's attention shifted to Slin. - Determination and kindness truly admirable. Not always you had it in abundance, did you? At least not when he was dying in front of your ey... She didn't finish as Slin abruptly interrupted her. - Enough! We are heading to the center of the Unicorn Forest. Do you know how we can get there? Gallan had never seen Slin angry, but he was grateful to her for interrupting this awkward conversation. The Nymph seemed unmoved by the anger of her guests and was silent again for a moment. - I am not your enemy. It is you who are enemies to yourself when you hide inside the experiences that weigh you down. Sometimes by pulling them out and looking at them in the light they turn out to be quite bearable. - she paused for a moment and approached the edge of the lake - I know a way that will shorten your journey to the cave. From the water emerged a passage made partly of plants, earth, and stone blocks. It led straight under the lake. - Do you want us to go down… there? - Gal asked, staring into the dark passage. - You asked for help. Here it is. Decide if you want to accept it. Going through the tunnel you will bypass the densest part of the forest. Slin and Gallan moved a few paces away for a brief consultation. - I'm not sure we should go down there. - Gal began. - That’s true, but I think we should go anyway. I know she's a little… suspicious, as Zair put it, but I feel like she doesn't mean us any harm. - Hmm... I trust your judgment. You usually have a good nose for such things. Gallan turned to Nymph and said. - We'll accept your help. - Right choice. Friends went into the tunnel. As they passed Nymph, Slin paused for a moment and added in farewell. - Thank you for your help and for your... words. - You are welcome. I thank you as well, you are much more curious than my neighbors asking about herbs for stomach ache and raspberries. The tunnel ran quite deep below the surface and turned out to be much larger than they had expected. The interior was illuminated by light from the outside, but as the passage closed behind Gal and Slin, complete darkness fell upon them. - We didn't think of taking some light, did we? - unicorn asked, disappointed that they hadn't thought of it. Slin only made an affirmative grunt. The solution to their problem came a moment later, when the plants and mushrooms growing throughout the tunnel began to glow. They illuminated the interior enough to move freely along the path leading inside. They were gently changing colors, sometimes dimming or brightening more, which made the tunnel shimmer like a crystal. Friends heard Nymph's quiet, dissolving voice one last time. - Remember to trust yourself sometimes, Gallan. The real you. And you, Slin, don't go back to the past. Find solace in the present. Then all they heard was silence.,
