Machairodus(or Amphimachairodus) aphanistus was probably the most widespread species of Machairodus found in many parts of Europe and Asia during the Miocene.The genus Machairodus existed for approximately 11.5 million years.M. aphanistus and the North American M.(Nimravides) catacopis representing the more primitive grade of the genus.The cat is made for my Iranian plateau scene of the late Miocene(leogon.deviantart.com/art/Iran… ).I hope you like this famous sabretooth!

Yes and no.I used a picture of the skull for making head and neck but for the body I used several resources including that one.

Thats awesome, Mauricio's got some awesome illustrations but i found that some his skeletal drawings are not all that accurate. D'you think you can send me a couple of sources that describe the body proportions?

Mauricio tends to improve his cats to the best appearance,besides;some skeletal resources on cats are so incomplete that even an artist like him sometimes has no choice but using his imagination.
Do you intend to make a sculpture of the animal?It would be great!
