Description A Megantereon cultridens, somewhere in Eurasian rainforests is checking a hedgehog of the extincted genus Amphechinus.I don't know for sure that this hedgehogs were extant on arrival of dirktooth cats or not,but the imagination led me to create this.Hope you like it!
And as always I need your critiques and guidance.
A combination of PS cs6,Artrage and Wacom Pen&Touch.

Looks amazing! One thing though, it would be cool if the big cat was looking at the hedgehog instead of somewhere off in the distance. It would bring the image together a little better, I think. But! I love how it is is too

Well, I don't think that this hedgehog will die out any time soon - the cat looks to be more curious than anything else.

Truly amazing. You have such great skill at drawing prehistoric animals! How long does it usually take you to do each picture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leogon In reply to WToosey [2015-07-11 12:50:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.It depends on the size and number of animals as well as details needed for each one.Averagely a work like this, takes at least 20 hours of divided work.

Really great picture! I love the colouring and the posture! Is there scientific evidence (cave painting or something similar?) for them having that fur or is it your interpretation? Either way, awesome job!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Leogon In reply to JannisKernert [2015-01-05 13:56:23 +0000 UTC]

No,Unfortunately they died out before arriving the first modern humans to depict them in cave art.even the Smilodons and Homotheriums which coexisted with our fellow ancestors(Homo sapiens) haven't been painted by them. It's a pity we only may rely on our imagination and the knowledge of these cats' lifestyles to choose a color and fur pattern.

Haha okay, so my question only showed how little I know about prehistoric animals in general! Thanks for the information though! Anyways... great picture!
