I am not an artist/art critic. All I can say is that the colors and the life of this picture caught my eye amidst the clutter of my logon page. That happens periodically but not usually to the point of following the link.
I did in this case, and was not disappointed. I usually like more life-like, sharp images but this is vibrant without well defined clarity and carried me to a feeling. It has the color of childhood and the security of a parent amidst the potential anxiety of the rain, light and shadow.

I find this pieces relatively beautiful. All of your colors are very full and vibrant and the white/ lighter colors contrast the figures of he man and child quite nicely. The overall technique (which I am assuming is pallet knife?) is what bring the impact of this piece. It shows a lot of care and effort. Really the one thing about this painting that loses me is the top of your trees, mostly the upper portion of the painting. It is incredibly beautiful, don't get me wrong, it's just your leaves are incredibly jumbled. It is hard to see the light fixture at first. To me it just looked like a break in the tree line and the sun coming out. Maybe with a clearer foreground, thicker trees, and less leaves the top portion would make a bit more since. This being just my opinion though
All in all I love your values, contrast, and vibrancy of the piece. While the composition begins to be lost on me as my eye move further up the painting, I find the theme of the father and child lovely and I can't help but admire the technique used here. I will most definitely be keeping an eye on your work, now that I have seen this.

Lovely idea. I like the brushwork and the way you apply colours. Less excited by the composition; perhaps, a bit too rigid. I feel the structural quality of your brushwork could be balanced by/enhance more the movement in the image.... But overall a meticulous work. (Did you contribute to last year's Sky portraiture contest? Your style reminds me of one piece.) Cheers.
