Byakuya from Bleach. The pose is based on a screenshot I liked but I wanted to paint it realism style.Byakuya is not my creation. He belongs to Kubo Tite.

Not sure what you're asking. It's a painting but I've based the features on that of a doll rather than a real person (you can see it around the nose and mouth) as I wanted it to be more than 2d but not quite real. I have added a texture over the painting of the sleeve and you can see that most in the light areas which helps make it look like cloth, but everything else is painted.

Thanks. I used mainly doll photos as reference to paint the face than actual male faces. I wanted to find the level between manga style and realism and BJD's have that look (I think they're actually modelled on the manga characteristics).

I was checking out photos of jewellery trying to find a pattern for the engraving on the hair piece, but found the pattern on the knife I was making my lunch with. Thanks for the fav.

I love the detailing on the kenseikan and the attention to texture, such as on his clothes and his skin. ^o^

Thanks, and thanks for the fav. I spent a bit of time on the details and the textures. I wanted the scarf to look very soft while the kimono be a rougher weave. Was looking around for a pattern for the engraving on the kenseikan and spied it on the handle of the knife I was using (strange where ideas can come from).

As for the Kenseikan, I think that's a really cool way to have found the design, personally- taking something from everyday life, I mean.
