The Anatolian Bronze is the largest surviving species of Dragonella in the world. They once were common in Southeastern Europe and Western Asia. This is the species that is described in ancient Greek and Persian literature. Today these ellusive creatures (about the size of a small cat) survive in small mount refuges in modern Turkey, Iran and the Republic of Georgia.

When I drew my first dragonella I added a second pair or wings out of sheer whimsy. They are sort of like living biplanes.
