Description The ITV series "Primeval" can be characterized as "Men In Black" meets "Jurassic Park". Instead of bug-eyed aliens, the swat team on Primeval chases various and sundry beasties that pop out of anomalies in the time stream from distant ages.

Hannah Spearritt who plays Abby Maitland the zoologist is one of the few actresses currently on television who in reality looks like an anime character.

Abby has adopted "Rex" a Paleozoic gliding reptile. She has to keep the steam heat up in her flat to keep him comfy. To keep comfy Abby struts around in her scanties. This is a welcome respite from all the slavering things that crawl out of the worm holes.

Faved for the offbeat cuteness boasted by both subjects.

I always thought of it as ghostbusters meets Jurassic Park. Very nice picture by the way

The Ghostbusters had no connection to the government, secret or otherwise. This makes Primeval a bit closer in tone to MIB or Torchwood.

I get the torchwood and MIB connections but it just made me think of ghostbusters more because the main team of primeval is this rag tag group of people that are doing their own thing and having to improvise half the time, plus they don't always know what they're doing hald the time, at least in the first few episodes.

On top of that, his 'gliding' bouts do resemble actual flight on numerous occasions, no?

There is no physiology to permit powered flight in this critter, but the animators don't seem to care.

That is truly a bizarre bit of symmetry. And I do indeed recall the scene you referred/illustrated. Probably a good thing (a) Rex is surprisingly mellow for a quick-moving arboreal creature and (b) he seems to lack the pronounced claws boasted by most modern reptiles in his size range.

I gave Rex iguana-like claws in my initial sketch. When I consulted a publicity photo on the Primeval official site, it showed that Rex has lobed fingertips like a gecko. It makes him cuter and more non-threatening, but he is much too large for such friction pads to sustain his weight on vertical surfaces.

Funny you should mention "MIB" and "Real Ghostbusters"...having caught several episodes of both (yes, there was an animated MIB spinoff), I enjoyed what little I saw. Unfortunately, the later series' style left its human protagonists rather flat, but certainly did its E.T.s justice. My point? I'd most certainly watch "P:tAS."

This piece makes me wish more mascot-critters, animated or live-action/CGed/hydraulic, were this offbeat...and for some reason, pink contrasts nicely with this shade of green.

I saw the MIB series. It ran 2 seasons during the interval between the films.

The Ghostbusters series had 2 versions: the original 60 episodes made for the weekday afternoon package, and the far inferior Saturday morning version. They can been distinguished because in the syndication version, Peter Venkman was voiced by Lorenzo Music (AKA the original voice of Garfield the Cat). In a supreme irony Garfield was voiced in the recent movies by BILL MURRAY who played Venkman in the GB movies!

Abby actually wore a pink camesol and panties in the first "hot" scene with REX in "Primeval".

And it's Rex... in colour! Boy, he looks spiffing. Nice job, Lexlothor!

THANX.

Does a picture like this suggest that "Primeval" could easily translate into an animated spinoff like "The Real Ghostbusters"?

BTW: No such person as "LEXLOTHOR" exists. The by-line I use on DA is entirely by happenstance. I wanted to use another DA log-on name, but it was already taken. I came up with this one in abouth 30 seconds.
