So many of your pieces embobdy a kind of living memory of old houses -- as if someone is still living there, but in the dark, and alone. So much of you gallery depicts a feeling of loneliness but so beautifully.

That's... right, you almost shock me... made me sit up in my chair. Those piece of work, at that time, were indeed the subject you mentioned, almost exactly, old houses with the ghosts of former people and the associated properties that takes on in a life story, through those 'houses'. Although I have to say that it was not intentional. I did not set out to create a series on the various places visited while in that state. You must be extremely perceptive... or have been there yourself.

Thank you, high praise from someone who knows what they are looking at.

I've always felt a deep kinship with old or forgotten buildings. In the book House of Leaves, a therapist illustrates to the narrating character "You like these places because they remind you of yourself." & it's true, haha.

I haven't done much urban exploration - my health at this point would not allow it anyway. But I love looking at images of old or abandoned places, especially images that pull me in like your paintings.

Huh... I meant to read that, ... or did I?

Eh, anyway I know of it...

Yes, so, compartmentalizing parts of the parts of yourself like they are still ghosts in an /abandoned/ building.

That kind of thing?

Yes, so do/would I. ... and thank you, I appreciate your interest.

It's my favorite book. It's worth the read if you haven't read it already. It's a good one for quarantine.

And no, while that is an idea I've explored in my writing, I think my kinship with abandoned buildings stems from permeating themes in my childhood. But yeah, thinking a haunted house has helped me slam a few doors, I think haha.

like an open door.....very old....the smell of old wood...and the sound of shoes walking on a wooden floor...I always have to think of that when I'm looking at this painting...like I would walk in....a story...stairs go down...

and I love this blue-gray colour

the blue-gray is 'russian blue oil with burnished graphite' it's not a terribly good photograph (as ever) so is a bit more vivid irl

thank you for your wonderful description...
