Description Just playing around with watercolors. I don't really know where this was headed in the first place. I suppose I was thinking of a circus ring master and all that jazz.

Thank you. I think my own fascination with color is mixed in there somewhere.

Oh, I like this very much. Maybe because it's calling to my deep need to paint with watercolors right now (but I can't...I'm in transit...moving is hard.)

But it's probably because it's just all around awesome.
Very cool.

Thank you for your kind words. Even when I can't work on my acrylics or oils I try to still keep a brush flowing, in this case watercolors. I like that I can use layer after layer, some more transparent than others with a smudge of water. It's fun. Thank you again.

I love exploring different mediums, and as far as painting goes, watercolors are certainly me favorite. One of the the reasons is the one you presented to me. I like the layering of them, and the many techniques you can use.

You're very welcome, by the way!

Defiantly. I do the same effect of layering with my acrylics and oils, so I'm just getting myself back into really using watercolors. It's funny because in high school I really used to hate painting. It was too messy and I didn't like that everything was so not controllable. But now that's the beauty of it, and college showed me that. I enjoy the fact that it's not detained in a perfect box, and can move freely---working with something as it comes. Letting the paint speak to you instead. It's exciting.

I've always been the exact opposite. I like how messy it is...well most of the time. I had this white comforter that I totally dug and ended up spilling purple paint on it...but I digress.
I'm happy to know that you found the beauty in the chaos that painting can bring. I used to hate using oil pastels (I still don't like it) but I came to respect their use. Hahaha, that sound weird, but I think you get me.
One of my favorite things about acrylics is the FEEL of them. The texture. You can feel their weight as you paint...which is super nifty
(Also, I'd like to clear up that in my previous comment, the 'me' was supposed to be 'my.' Apparently, I was a little too Irish at the moment.)

Yes, it's great when art can set you straight and let you have fun with things you didn't like before. Or give you an appreciation for them. I like working with any medium really. I actually really love (and miss) oils. I like how they look like satin on a canvas. They paint so freely as well---the only sucky thing with oils is that they don't dry quite as quickly as acrylics. One thing I have learned over the years is how to layer paint (be it oil or acrylic) in the same manner. My college art professor's always thought my acrylics were oil paintings because of how layered I could get them. I was just like eh, cool.

And yeah I do get you, whether you're having an Irish moment or not.

I haven't worked extensively with oils yet, but I'd love to learn how to work them, for the exact reason you stated: they look smooth as satin on canvas, which I'm really into.

Maybe? Hadn't thought on it really, it was just a random thing out of my head. I have a drawing of a little person in my book too, maybe I could continue this whole circus thing.

Her other arm needs to be colored in i cause I forgot it. Also maybe add in some other elements, kinda like I did with the Fantastical Scarlett of yours I did before.

We'll see what ideas come along. But for a Ring Master---she needs a bigger ring somewhere in there. Maybe with an animal jumping through.

^^ You're welcome. Ugh, I'm horrible with colors. I've found that the only color medium I'm able to use very well at all is pastel...and with that, it's only with background stuff like blending blue into a lighter blue into a teal into a green to fill up negative space and create a kind of glowing effect around the positive space of the drawing. ...I just described what I did for my ink drawing in art. =.= I feel pathetic now because that was my best coloring ever and it was my lowest grade in the class this 6 weeks.

Sometimes though you have to tackle what you aren't the most comfortable with. For me it's backgrounds and the surrounding areas. I've gotten better, but I still have some growing to do in that aspect. Just keep working with colors and coming up with combinations you wouldn't normally try, you'd be surprised on the outcome if you just kind of play around and see what happens. Some things I've done have all been just experimentation. Keep going! Art truly a freedom mechanism. It makes you just let emotion come out. Whether it be with theater, music or art, it just gives the best therapy. I truly believe it.
