One of my favorite treats is iced Thai tea with boba, or tapioca bubbles. Thai tea has a black tea flavor that reminds me of a certain kind of canned sweet black gelatin my mom used to cut up for me to eat when I was a wee tot. On top of the nostalgia, I also love the creamy, caramelly/chocolatey sweetness of the tea. Its startlingly orange color is also strangely appealing to me! And I love chewing on those sweet tapioca bubbles...Depending on where you read online, Thai tea is a mix of black tea, star anise, tamarind, cardamom, or it can include dried lemongrass, dried pandan and color. I don't taste any of those spices when I drink Thai tea, though--just milky sweetness! Anyways, I unfortunately couldn't find anything on how it was invented.

As for the girl, the costume was very difficult to design. I knew I wanted something tropical and exotic--originally I had just the halter top and the harem pants (which I love the look of but unfortunately can't pull off IRL haha). I planned to incorporate a few subtle hints of traditional Thai dress--but Thai costume is so incredibly varied! One common factor I noticed, however, is a sash that drapes over one shoulder. I really like how the "brocade" turned out!! I also noticed that Thai costumes are adorned with lots of gold, so I gave her lots of blayng

I envision this girl as running to a sort of traditional dance practice--she's half wearing the costume and half wearing casual clothes. She spent a little too much time relaxing on a hammock somewhere, escaping the summer Thai heat and humidity with an ice-cold Thai tea...and now is arriving a little late. 'Hey guys!'
